Bees who went with david's bridal alterations,

Can you tell me what was done to your gown and how much it cost? I am trying to get an idea of how much money I should be thinking about paying for it.

    Thanks a bunch!

I am not trying to be a downer at all, but my sister used DB's alterations for herself and the bridesmaids, and they messed up every single one of our dresses. I have heard similar stories from other girls who went with DB's. You may want to shop around with local seamstresses in your town just to be on the safe side, but good luck with whatever decision you may make. :)

@brideatbeach: Thanks for the information. They have had the same alterations manager for over 10 years at my local DB. My sister used them for her fitting but didn't get anything altered because she was on a budget. That was about 10 years ago. The manager suggest my sister just wear taller shoes to save the 80 dollars it cost to hem her dress. That is what she did. Now I am getting married and I was suprised to see the same lady there to schedule my appointment. But they are so sketchy on how much their services are? They have this stupid sign that gives you an estimate...basically starting price. But then it says subject to style of dress. They also make it clear that I must pay at the fitting but don't make it clear how much it will be.!

I had David's Bridal do my alterations on my dress T9612 and it turned out perfect.

I had several things done to it to make it fit right:

    Hem - $75

    Straps Shortened - $30

    6 point bustle - $35 (first 3) ($15 for the additional 3)

I don't have any advice from personal experience, but my aunt, who got married in October, told me that even if I got a dress from DB (which I didn't) do not, under any circumstances get the dress altered there.  She said that the price of the dresses are reasonable because they gouge you with how much they charge on alterations.  Like I said, this is not my experience, but just passing on her words of advice.
