I was also looking for a lace wedding dress but was very budget conscious. After doing a lot of online searching, and seeing how much lace wedding dresses were going for in Toronto with all the associated accessories (beaded belt, lace veil) I thought I would take a chance on Lace Marry. After getting my measurements taken at the drycleaner in my condo building, and steeling my nerves with a bottle of wine, I decided to shave one inch off my measurements and order from Lace Marry. My mother convinced me that I could use or resell the dress if it didn’t work out. Also, since I am quite short (5’2) I was really anxious about the price of hemming a lace dress.
It took about three days for her to respond to my inital request, and another three days to get my custom requests (a mermaid bottom, custom measurements) quoted and paid for. I also paid for the rush charge so I’d have enough time to order from a traditional store if I hated the dress. I paid November 13 and the dress arrived December 2, which was so much faster than I expected.
The dress arrived Monday while I was out of town for work! I paid the DHL charge (be warned, you’ll be paying about $35 extra in shipping charges over the quote and in Canada about $25 in customs charges on delivery). I worked with DHL to pay the delivery charge and waited patiently to get back into town to try it on.
I have to admit I was SO skeptical when I arrived home last night to a boring DHL bag. BUT …
the dress is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. Really and truly. I cried after I put it on with the veil (an additional $40, and SO worth it, edged in matching lace). I have tried on many dresses in wedding shops, and you would never know that this dress did not come from one. The seams and edges are beautifully done and the dress is so well constructed.
That being said, it was my fault for taking one inch off each measurement in anticipation of losing weight. I personally do not lose consistently, so while the dress was snug (almost perfect) in the bust and hips, the waist is too big. This is not her fault, and I am glad I ordered now so I can trim up and still allow myself six months for alterations before my wedding day.
Again, the dress and lace is gorgeous. It is so beyond what I ever expected. And now, I can spend hundreds on alterations as I lose weight without the scare of losing the shape of the dress for length alterations, and even get the really blingy $200 belt I wanted with absolutely no guilt. I cannot believe I got a dress and veil of this quality for $500 Canadian.
If you PM me, I’m happy to send on pictures of me and my dress and tell you more about my experience. I am over the moon with Lace Marry and could not be happier than I have extra funds to allocate elsewhere in my wedding!!!
