I use a glycolic acid toner for acne and it works really well. I haven’t done the peels. I find the toner to be effective without causing irritation and other issues. Plus it can be used daily. I never found my skin got worse before it got better… I think when that happens it’s a sign your skin is being irritated. Make sure you’re using sunscreen as well. You can have this compounded with a topical antibiotic as well… but you need an Rx for that.

nerdybird:  It’s super, super drying. It combats dry skin by speeding the flaking off, but you will be incredibly dry for awhile after using it.

You aren’t leaving it on long enough. I put it on for five minutes , apply a second layer and leave it on another 3-5. The whole point is to peel so expect your skin to look funky a couple days. After I wash the glycolic off, I slather my face with vitamin E oil, and use a heavy moisturizer the next couple days. I have seen a dramatic improvement in my blackheads plus my skin looks amazing.

Oh, one more thing, make sure you clean and tone and lightly exfoliate your face really well before applying the peel. It won’t work if there is a barrier
