In my opinion, they are easier to handle, and I mostly like to do squats with them, as using a body bar to do squats with hurts my neck and shoulders. I have a friend that swears by them, but it depends on your priorities I suppose.

They have a kettlebell class at my gym that is amazing! The trainer has a bunch of dvds out, his name is Paul Katami. You can probably find them on Amazon. He does a lot of combonations swinging and lifting the kettlebell different ways as you do squats and lunges. The idea is that your legs and butt absorb the weight of the kettlebell, giving you a better workout. We also use the kettlebell to work on arms and abs.

I LOVE kettlebells! And why not? A good 45 minute workout can burn 900 calories. I like the Iron Core DVDs. I started with a 5 lb. KB and I am now up to 15! The exercises work the whole body, especially your core.
