Oooh I used it, but I haven’t paid anything.  We’re just using a travel agent, and she works on commission, so we won’t actually be paying her a fee.  Rather, she’ll skim some off our hotel costs.  I would just make sure you understand exactly what’s happening with the money before you hand anything over.

Our agent has her own agency, with website, etc.  She just uses Tripology to get her name out there.  It seems pretty legit to me.

Another thing, I’d book the flights yourself.  You can do it just as easily on kayak.com or something like that, whereas a travel agent would charge you to book it since they can’t take commission.  At least that’s what ours told us.

@MsPensFan: Her name is Loretta Lamberth, she has an agency in Atlanta.  She specializes in Italy, which is why she initially contacted us, so I don’t know if that’s pertinent to your trip.  But she’s been great, really specific and totally accommodating.

If you’re booking your hotel, transfers and insurance with an agent, they shouldn’t charge you a fee to book the air. And if you book the air on your own, then you would actually need a seperate policy to cover the flights.

I know some agents who buy leads from Tripology. I would just be sure to ask them why they feel the resort or destination is a good fit for you, and if they have personally visited that destination within the last 3 years. (I have also seen new agents who didn’t know what they were doing post trips on Tripology to trick other agents into creating itineraries for them. Sad but true)

Agents pay as much as $25.00 per lead from Tripology, and they won’t get paid if you don’t book with them. So if you don’t think it’s going to be a good fit for you, it’s best to let them know upfront.
