Ooh, my sis bought a cricut. I don't think she has accent essentials yet though... i was going to get her that for christmas!
I just looked it up... the cut MAY work, though I have to be perfectly honest, the expression only cuts about 11x11 on a 12x12 cutting mat... so the chances are slim that it's going to cut it exactly to the size. So I would probably ask yourself if you could make it smaller at all, like 1/4 of an inch? It sizes in 1/4 inches when you resize the image
Also, if you bought Sure Cuts a Lot (is that it? i think so...) software, you could use any design like that you wanted... buy a vector off of istockphoto and turn it into curves in Adobe Illustrator. Good luck!
Thank you so much for your help, cinemaparadiso!!! I've read my manual and it says the Cricut Create will cut up to 6x12 pieces, so I'm hoping my 5.5 x 8.5 invites will work in it! Thanks so much for explaining how it cuts...I didn't know that about the 1/4 of an inch increments to resize a shape, that is useful to know!
I've wondered about Sure Cuts A Lot (as well as the Gypsy) for doing this project. Actually, it may be worth it to buy the Gypsy if it means i can then do this project myself, because to get it professionally die cut in this shape will cost me $250--or about the same as buying a Gypsy. (Hmm, maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to buy it?!?) Well, I think I'm going to get the Accent Essentials off ebay for now and play around with it and see if I can make that shape the right size to die cut my invites! I really wish I could get Sure Cuts A Lot, but I don't have Adobe Illustrator and I'm actually the most computer-illiterate person you'll run into (I managed to NEVER take a computer class, because I homeschooled and then went to and graduated from a UC which doesn't require that you take computer classes!) so anyway, I think I'd better wait to take a computer design course before I try to figure out Sure Cuts A Lot.

Hi ladies! I would love to get a little advice. I just bought a cricut create die cutting machine new in the box off Craigslist...I'm thinking of getting the Accent Essentials cartridge on ebay so that I can attempt to die cut my 8.5 x 5.5 invitations into a shape like the invitation in the photo I'm attaching to this post. UPDATE: it denied the size of my photo..so please go to this link to view the photo: http://www.stylemepretty.com/gallery/photo/martha-andrews+14508
I can see a tiny little design in a similar shape in this cartridge, Accent Essentials. My question is: how does a cricut work exactly? Can I somehow increase the size of this shape to accomodate my 8.5 x 5.5 invitation? Are there any better shapes in any of the other cartridges that are closer in appearance to the shape of the invitation in the photo I've posted? Do you think my project can be successfully pulled off??
Any help would be so gratefully appreciated! Thanks much!!!
