I got the idea from WB – when I went to the flower shop, they said carnations are great because they don’t require refrigeration! My colors are green and white (with brown accents) so I got the mint green carnations, they are gorgeous.

I made a practice bouquet and centerpiece (and mixed the carnations with other flowers) and everything came out BEAUTIFUL (IMO).

I think the carnations look a LOT prettier when they are tied together tightly, you can’t really tell they are carnations.  I think they look a lot cheaper otherwise.

I will try to post pics soon.

I have grown to love carnations! I plan to use them in mine in bridesmaids bouquet (as balls) and centerpieces.

Here’s some from the web:

Yep! We’re doing tall centerpieces like this:

And the flowers in the centerpieces are going to be carnations. No one is going to pay that much attention to flowers that are 2 1/2-3 feet above their head. We did it to save a boatload of $$$.

Yes!  White carnations are the only flower that we will have at our reception.  They will be individually placed in bud vases amongst mason jars of curly willow and moss balls.  I absolutely love carnations! 🙂

what my florist told me to tell people when I get asked what flower it is (in a bouquet or arrangement) just tell them Dianthus caryophyllus (that’s its Latin name ) 😀 and no one will be the wiser that it is a carnation. I personally like them and think they are Very pretty grouped together…but some people are Flower Snobs I guess lol.

My fiance and I want to go with carnations too (I love them and he buys them for me all the time).  Only thing is I don’t really like how all the bouquets and centrepieces with them used seem to be “big round ball”.  Anyone have any photos of them showing their stems?  I’d like a bouquet that is less “puff ball” looking, you know?  More natural flower….. same with the centrepieces……

We are using carnations in our bridesmaid’s bouquets and also in our centrepieces.  Here is our centrepiece.  We haven’t seen the bouquets yet tho.

I’m doing carnations along with mums, billy balls, ranunculus, roses and dahlias. I’m excited!
