Last weekend I saw the pre-printed invites that Michaels has available. I'm really interested and I'm wondering if anyone out there had any experience with these? They have some really gorgeous stuff and mostly I'm curious how easy it is to print on these and make sure everything is lined up properly etc.
I used Michaels invites and loved them... It was easy to use, and we had many compliments on them (some even said they never saw such beautiful invites - for what I paid for them, I was shy to get comments so nice!)
I have them!! I just downloaded all the Microsoft Word templates I need for mine off their website! It seems to be super easy and when I bought mine from Michaels I used 50% off coupons and only spent $75.00 on my invites! and they are nicer then that ones I got quoted for over $600.00!!
i used them and they turned out fantastic!! step one- check to see if you have a printer that aligns in the middle and not to one side when it's for a smaller piece of paper(i had this problem, after a few hours i figured it out but was a huge pain) but other than that, i don't think anyone knows i did them myself!
Thanks ladies especially brittanymichelle I was wondering about that!!
Anyone know anything about inkjet vs laser?
My sister got her damask invite suite from Michael's. I printed everything up on my HP 1315 inkjet printer using the provided templates on the "best" setting. They turned out great. She is on deployment so I took some pics and e-mailed them to her. Let me see if I can edit out the personal info and I will post a pic.

ohhh JamaicaBride gold star for the day if you can thanks for that! ; )
I had read someplace that there was trouble with laser vs inkjet but of course can't find the post and have no idea which one!
I used these and I am soooo pleased with how they turned out!
If you follow the instructions properly (online) it is a piece of cake!
I used an inkjet printer on the "best" setting also!
Here is a pic of them - I bought some pearl embellishments from Michael's as well, to add a little somethin' somethin'

My friend used them for her wedding and they turned out beautifully! Don't have any photos, but I'd definitely recommend them!
I think I may use them. Invites is one place we're trying to save money.
AWESOME thanks so much for the pictures everyone this helps SOOOO much you guys rock!!! Anyone else who has pictures feel free to share this is so useful!
I used the chocolate ones from above. Our colors were chocolate and pink. So, we also precut light pink velum and put that on top of the invite and then tied the ribbon around it. We had so many compliments. People who said they were the prettiest invitations they had ever seen.
@Gemstone....they are super easy to use. They even have several examples of wording that you can use on the invites, RSVP cards, etc.
One tip: If you plan on printing the return address directly on the invite like I did, use MS Word to create your template and then create a custom format for the envelope size. If you use the envelope setting in MS Word, it won't allow you to use 3.5" x 5" as an envelope size.
i used the same one's as Future Mrs. Martin , only i printed mine with cornflower blue and grey ink :)
I've used their wedding invitations for a bridal shower invitation. I got a lot of compliments on the invitations! I made them extra snazzy by adding special ribbon and an overlay of floral paper.
I'm in the process of making mine right now. I am using an inkjet printer on the "best" setting. I had to go into my printer settings on my printer and measure the different sizes of paper to make sure everything aligned correctly. But I just followed the directions from the Gartner website and I haven't had any unexpected problems. I am also really happy with how they are turning out and I will post pictures soon.
I used Michael's invitations as well! They turned out to be breathtaking!
DO NOT use a laser printer. I did this first and the "ink" did not stick to the paper/material. It smeared right off, even after "drying" for days. I eventually had to request replacements. They gave them to me for free, but after saying that the laser printers DO work. They are wrong. Mine were terrible.
Second time around--I used my inkjet and it turned out perfect!
I got mine from Michaels too! Make sure to look for the 40% or 50% off coupon, you will save a lot of money. They are really easy to print! I just got done priting mine, i will need to take a pic and post on here! They are comming out really nice!
i bought some for our second reception with my 40% off coupons! such a good deal! but i haven't tried printing any yet. :3
@mthoma27 thanks for the info about the laserjet printer! I think mine is injet (I hope) but it's good to know!
@Future Mrs Martin which design is that it doesn't look familiar. Our colors are gray, red and we'r also using some black but trying to avoid too much dark but I can't find anything gray of theirs that I like!
BEE'S THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! This is great info!!
we used ac moore ones - but afterwards cuter ones came out at michaels. I loved ours and it was super easy to use!
I really want to look into doing these. They look great and the price is amazing! Does the set include direction cards??
I used a laser printer for mine and they turned out perfect! The first few turned out really bad and the ink was smearing everywhere, so before I hit print I went to properties then clicked the paper choice as cotton and it worked perfectly. They were really cheap with the 40% off coupons!
@jspeby - they do come with direction cards!
I actually just got the same ones Jamaicabride used for her sister! They look great, but I haven't actually started "printing" any yet. I think I'm going to get different ribbons to put around them.... Our colors are like a bruise, purple, blue, and black. These were the best we could find to go with, even though Damask isn't part of the wedding ;-o I'll probably use a purple ribbon to go around...
I was also thinking of doing a faux calligraphy, but with the way the envelopes are, I don't think I'll be able too...

I sued the programs and made them into invites and it was flawless...i got TONS of compliments on them as well! :)
i have the same invitations as jamaciabride & KLP i am going to start them today or tomorrow
@cricket - here is the link to my invites on the GartnerStudio website. I was in my Michaels the other day and they were still selling them.
I would also like to say I have been getting RAVING REVIEWS about my invites and nobody can believe that it is a DIY kit!
@klp2010 I will i was just snooping around to see if anyone had tips for these invitations im nervous to print them LOL
I plan on cutting out paper in the "invite" size first and make sure I'm loading and feeding correctly... then to make sure my "wording" works with the designs etc...
okay that sounds like a good idea! at first i was thinking of just taking it to kinkos or something... but now im not sure i need to get these done as soon as possible
@KLP...they actually include a couple extra of the suite in each box so that you can do a trial run. That way you can see how you need to "flip" each piece in order to get it to print out correctly and have the design where it should be.
we used them! we customized ours with an embossed bee stamp. We have gotten tons of compliments! As far as printing ease, it was fine! A few trial runs to make sure everything looks good, and make sure your printer is set to print on "thick" or "heavy paper".

Yup, we used the one JamaicaBride used. We loved them! I'd totally recommend going to Michaels for them or something similar. The packages give you everything, you save so much money and they really are nice.
Hey! We used the black damask ones, like many other bees above, and had exactly the same experience - people were blown away by them, and we got rave reviews! We used the coupons, too, so our invites for 130 people were about $100. I used the labels included for the addresses, and had no problem printing the suite out on my inkjet printer. The alignment was off on a few of the invites themselves, but I caught it and fixed it, and the rest turned out fine. The only other thing was the labels, some of them peeled off and got stuck in the back, which was a bit of a pain, but it was worth it to get it done at home! I loved our invites, they did the job, and were stylish and beautiful...I highly recommend them!
Did anyone who used theses not include directions? if so what did you use for the extra card??
I used them. Not the pocket kind because I was concerned about the postage. But my only complaint was my envelopes were so cheap I had to buy different ones. I mean they were so so so cheap I could see my invite through it.
i actually thought of using these instead of having someone print them for me. they turned out great!
