I am a huge fan of Special K Protein bars for breakfast on the go and the Slim Fast Shakes for lunch. I have lost quite a bit of weight in the past through healthy diet and exercise and I still use them on days when I need lighter calories early on for heavy meals in the evening. I typically do a bar for breakfast (or fruit/oatmeal etc) and a shake for lunch if I am in a hurry and a snack in the afternoon.

Plus they taste good and if you are like me and like smaller, lighter meals they are perfect.

You need to be careful with crash diets. You will lose the weight fast, but your body will gain it back faster. Eat healthy and exercise. It’s deemed “safe” for people to lose five pounds per month.

I use Isagenix shakes which are much healthier for you (although they may be a bit more expensive and have to be shipped vs. buying them at the corner store). I have a few friends who are major health nuts and they got me started on it. The shakes have half the sugar compared to Slim Fast shakes. They keep me full and I have had way more energy since starting them a month ago. Plus they are super tasty. Now I am slightly addicted to their products and also use their Cleanse for Life, Immunity Plus Zinc, Greens (to make sure I am getting in my veggies!), and their Isadelights chocolate for a healthy indulgence. Here is some additional info: http://www.isagenix.com/us/en/enews_product_102008.dhtml. Let me know if you have any questions!

My FI’s sis tried those for awhile. She lost weight, but gained it right back.

@masterteee2013:  You won’t necessarily gain the weight back even if you switch back to regular meals. You just need to be careful and take action as soon as you gain back 5 pounds.

You have plenty of time to lose 20 pounds but I would do it by counting calories and working out. My fitness pal is awesome and I would recommend checking it out.

Two winters ago I did the Special K diet, which is very similar to slim fast. I lost 15 pounds, without exercise. I was estatic.

Then I looked at the Christmas photos of me. My skin was dull, I had bags under my eyes, and looked very ill. I was essentially depriving my body of needed calories and nutrients. I was eating below my BMR – the calories Doctors would give me if I was in a coma to keep my organs running.

When I transitioned to normal life again the weight piled on faster than it came off, and then some. I was 150 lbs (5’2).

Now I eat at 20% under my TDEE, which gives me about 1750 calories. I’m now at 137, and losing. I feel healthy and energized. Please rethink those stupid fad diets, they will do nothing for you that’s worthwhile

I have 2 eggs for breakfast and some coffe with cream (200 calories total.) Sandwich for lunch (200 calories) and then 500 for dinner. 1 snack when I got hungry (200 calories) Then, I would have the slimfast shake after dinner. Thats 5 small “meals” and put me at around 1300 calories. I lost 30 pounds so far. Might not work for you but its what worked for me. It took me a while to figure out what my body liked.

They keep me satisfied for a decent amount of time. I like them when I need to lose weight quickly for some occasion (like Mexico in 10 days!). But June is 6 months away and you could lose 20 pounds in a much healthier and sustainable way by then. I lost 23 pounds in 6 months a few years back and that was with a 10 pound gain over Christmas. I did it with Weight Watchers, which I think is a fantastic program!
