So… I have an iPhone 3. It has been a good phone to me over the MANY, MANY years I’ve had it, but I decided it is time for a new phone. My wireless/wifi on my iPhone hasn’t worked for 2-3 months now, so it has been just a basic phone. I can place calls and text with it, with the added bonus of being able to take pictures and videos. Most of the apps I have require internet, so I’ve been using FI’s phone for my other apps (not Candy Crush! But I do have my Starbucks app…) and I’m getting tired of it. Anyway, I’m a weirdo and I LOVE the rush/excitement of getting up early and waiting in line for something. I went to almost every SINGLE Harry Potter release (even when I was 15 and we were leaving for a 3 week road trip, I begged my parents to take me), I go to mignight releases of movies, wait in line for new games, and back when *blush* Nsync was popular, my BFF and I waited in line in the rain to get tickets… and we got the LAST 2! They literally changed the sign to SOLD OUT right after we made our purchase. (They might not have technically sold the last 2 to us, but that’s how we like to remember it!)
Now, I’m not iLoyal or an iFan, but I am super excited about going to get an iPhone 6 tomorrow. However, I’m not so much inlove with waiting that I dare go to an Apple store (not going to drive over an HOUR to the nearest one). Just going to my local store cell phone provider store. I do suspect there to be a BIT of a line (actually there was a guy camped out front tonight when I drove by) but I talked to the store and they said they don’t predict selling out in a day and that they are “well stocked”. Still though, I’m getting there early just to have fun with it. If there was another big phone being released Samsung, Nokia, LG, w/e tomorrow instead of the iPhone 6 I’d be getting that instead (assuming there was a lot of hype behind it and I’d get my mini rush). I’ve never used my phone to its full potential (never even updated my iOS to 7 or 6… I think I still have 5-something) but I’m excited. Do I NEED the iPhone 6? Heck no. But am I excited none the less? Yup! I just hope I can keep my old unlimited data plan that I got back when I got my iPhone 3… 6 years ago!
I thought about pre-ordering, but I would have missed out on the standing in line fun! It’s not just about the phone for me! lol (Yeah, I am SUPER giddy and excited!)

I’ve done the whole line thing for a few previous iPhone releases and the original iPad. Now I just pre-order my new devices. I’m not a fan of getting up early and dealing with people. I’d rather just pay in advance and have it delivered to my house on launch. I’m lazy.

I pre-ordered mine and it is already on its way – UPS is delivering it tomorrow! I can’t do the line thing.

Well what a let down… I got there an hour early to “wait in line” and there were only 8 people there. I stood in line and talked to this gal that got their right after me, and 10 minutes prior to the store opening, there were only 10 or so people behind us. The store opened, took the first 10 in. I got exactly what I wanted. No hassle. No real buzz. Everyone was just kind of bored looking, lol! However, while in the store they did announce that they sold out of iPhone Plus (they’d only ordered 5 – 3 64 and 2 128)… but seriously those things were SO huge I can’t imagine having one. The 6 was so big that I even considered just getting a 5s lol! But I’m glad I got it. I’ve been playing with it for the last 3 hours, and my fingers are quickly adapting. It is SOOOOO much faster and smoother than my iPhone3 lol.
At least now I can say that I am the owner of a 128GB Slate Gray iPhone6, but I am disappointed there wasn’t a huge turn out. Guess that’s what happens in a small town. I woke up around 6:40 my time, got the the store at 7:00, and walked out of the store before 8:30 with my new phone in hand. I’m so glad I decided to go at 7:00 instead of earlier. Hope y’all enjoy your new phones too.

Congrats on the new phone!
I preordered this time because I could see that the iPhone 6 Plus was going to sell out and I didn’t want to take any chances that I wait in line and don’t get what I want.
I went to android for awhile because Iwanted a bigger phone, but I am back to iPhone because I just can’t stand the constant force close and required reboot to keep that monster of an android phone running smoothly. I want it to just work without me having to change and customize all day, and that is what all my previous iPhones are able to do.
Sorry, didn’t mean to make this so long. Back to you: YAAAAY! New phone!!!

I won’t do it for a new phone, but I have waiting in line for book and movie releases, so I understand the hype. 🙂

- Wedding: April 2016 - Gorse Hill, Surrey, UK
I queued at midnight for the final Harry potter book. That was a good atmosphere as loads of people dressed up and the book store ran competitions and readings. My contract is due and I think I’ve decided to get a galaxy note this time round, but I’ve loved my iPhone for the past two years I just get bored easy lol

I can’t think of a single thing I’d wait in a really long line up for, I’ll walk out of Starbucks if the lines too long.. There’s a sneaker shop near my office that hosts overnight line ups pretty often for shoes. Its crazy talk! Your lucky to have gotten the phone with no hassle! I’m due for a new phone but would be fine with a 5. I currently have a 4s.
Splodge2003: I did queue for Harry Potter, and I’m not even a fan.. At all!! I was in London with my family when it was released and my brother was dying for it. We were walking home from dinner at like 1 am and the streets were MADNESS. It was so cool to see everyone dressed up and excited, we went back to the hotel and slept for a few hours..
We walked over to Waterstones.. People had been sleeping in the streets and we walked right in when they opened and bought a bunch of copies! I guess there’s excitement in being the first one with a copy.. Hence the hours and hours of waiting.

I just called in and got mine, I didn’t even think about a line at a store (or a phone wait), I called and upgraded in about 10 minutes, no ridiculous wait time or worries.
