Today I was sharing a story of how I found some money while cleaning and she said it actually made her feel good to hear stories like that and shared some with me, which made me feel better. So I was hoping other Bee’s would share stories of perhaps how you found money or came into money unexpectedly!
I’ll share some of mine.
A couple of years ago I was just walking into the gas station to get a new phone card, it was a bad day because my phone just ran out suddenly. But on my way in I seen a Lotto 649 ticket laying in the snow, no one was around so I just shoved it into my pocket. The next day when I was getting groceries I thought I might as well scan it. I won $100 which paid for my groceries!
Today I got a head start on my spring cleaning. I was just going to throw out this old bag that just seemed to have some junk in it, it’s FIs bag and has been sitting there for what seems live forever. I decided to just browse through it to make sure there was nothing important. In the bottom there was this envelope addressed to FI from the government that had been opened. I pulled it out and there was a cheque for $50 inside from January 2013! He says that he had thought he deposited that into his account last year but it must’ve fallen into the bag. This just puts my over the moon as we couldn’t afford to celebrate my birthday this week and now this’ll cover dinner!
So any stories from the hive?

We went to the Rennaissance Faire last year, and I found $20 in cash in the parking lot. We waited for a few minutes in case someone came running back for it, but how else do you let a whole crowd of people know you found money without anyone falsely claiming it? If it was more than $100 I would have turned it in, anyone losing that much would be looking for it.
Conversely, I once found a wallet while shopping in Target, and just turned it into the security guard. Hopefully he found it’s owner 🙂

a few years ago, when FI and I started tithing as a couple at church, we found money in the parking lot and decided to give it. We were really poor, I mean that $20 would have fed us lunch for 2 days. We didn’t think twice though, it was the right thing to do. Later that day, we were out grocery shopping and this lady left some items under her cart. Obviously we grabbed the stuff and gave it to her. She was so grateful and handed FI 2 bills. He was like no it’s okay, seriously we just didn’t want you to forget your groceries! She insisted and seeing as how we thought it was only $2 we took it and left. When we got in the car we realized it was $40 and we thought she made a mistake. She was already gone by that time so we went home.
I finally understand that God will always provide. That was such a turning point for us as a couple and as Christians.
We put the $40 into a savings account and we tithe regularly 🙂
