I had one two years and unfortunately my abnormal cells have returned and I have to get another 🙁 I’m worried about the possible effects on future pregnancies. I’m also worried it comes back again after a second LEEP. Then what?

I have had one LEEP several years ago before meeting my husband. We have been TTC for 5 months now. At this point, I am not sure if anything is related, but I was warned when I had my LEEP hat there is a possibility of having a hard time conceiving. But we will give it some more time before going to a specialist. Good luck!

Good luck! I have heard that these procedures don’t affect ttc but that they can affect carrying the baby – apparently there is a higher risk of premature birth. I’m sure since you’ve only had one procedure you will be fine:)

I’m sorry to hear that. I had a LEEP in November 2012 and it was a very scary experience. My fingers are crossed for you.
I got pregnant easily less than a year after the LEEP and they did an extra cervical measurement at the 8, 12, and 20 week ultrasounds to make sure everything was fine. No thinning or shortening. You’ll want to talk to your doctor about the risks, especially if you’re thinking about TTC sooner than later. According to mine, a negative impact on pregnancy is very, very rare.

Thanks! I’m glad everything went well for you!

Ugh I’m so sorry you have to have another one! I just recently had one, about 3 weeks ago. I am generally okay doing all that stuff and can relax fine but I seriously saw my OBGYN 5 times within 2 months and just ended up crying at my last follow up after my LEEP, just ’cause I’m so sick of it! I’m not sure about abnormal cells returning after a third LEEP (we only addressed the possibility of a second), but she made me feel like it shouldn’t complicate future pregnancies because I’ll be so closely monitored. She was and has been very reassuring that I should not be impacted in a negative way. We are not close to even trying, but I feel like I’m in good hands once we get to that point.

@MissGeeBee: i think you will be fine, my doctor said the only procedure that would effect preganancy is having a cone biopsy bc it shortens the cervix
