Unfortunately, nope. We both have to plan a LOT if we want to see each other (both students, he has a job but I don't, he's in America and I'm in England). No surprise visits for either of us lol
I've been there. Then again, I also thought he was leaving a valentine's present hidden in my apartment since he was leaving few days before. It's SUCH a let down :(
@NehaPrasad92: Ah, well that's pretty sucky too.
@DIYtilmyfingershurt: I'm glad I'm not alone, even if it's terribe :( I missed him already but now it's even worse.
@brighteyedgirl: That's the thing, he does surprise me with random visits and other things, and I can often tell when he's planning something. But turns out I was wrong, it was wishful thinking :(
@galloway111: That sucks. I've wondered about things and gotten my hopes up before too. Just now, for instance, I was hoping that he'd come to visit me because he has 3.5 days off before his next shift. Unfortunately, it looks like after all his debating he's decided that he thinks I should study. I'd usually be glad he's considerate, but I know that if he was here I'd have time to study because he'd read through "Mockingjay" in a day, like he read the other two books in the trilogy last time he visited haha.
My husband and I were LD while dating and I totally get what you're talking about. He'd show up unexpected the odd time, but more often would surprise me by showing up early. I remember sooo many weekends where I was totally convinced he was planning a surprise but was unfortunately dead wrong.
It was so hard not to feel disappointed and sometimes really difficult to keep that separate from starting to feel disappointed in him (cause that totally wouldn't be fair) but LD can do crazy things to you/your common sense.
The only time FI has managed to surprise me was when he proposed. The man can't keep a secret from me - he gets too excited. That said, sometimes I get my hopes up for a surprise (or early) visit anyway, but because I know deep down it isn't going to happen I'm never too disappointed.
No surprises for me. My SO is way to practical to and busy to come down for a short surprise visit. But, if he did, I would be more thank okay with it!
@galloway111: I remember those days. I was convinced once in awhile that he'd be waiting for me after I was done my classes. It never happened. The only time he's shown up and surprised me is when we had a huge fight. He got at my house at like 2 am and had to leave at 6 am to get to work. It was really sweet.

Have you ever been convinced he (or she) was about to surprise you by showing up randomly, you feel like there were several hints, and they don't? I know it was unlikely and I'm not mad at FI since he never said he was going to come here to see me (we live an hour and a half apart but are both super busy) but a few things he said and did earlier today got my hopes up for him showing up out of nowhere. And now I'm disappointed because he hasn't...
Can anyone else relate?
