I may possibly get one for Christmas but haven’t decided yet.  If I do, I’d be happy to help!

Do you have a Jo-Ann’s craft store around you? They often have workshops on various things that cost varying amounts. Maybe they could cut out what you need during the class?

for example, there is a class for Cricut in the November-December flyer (page 3) for $5: http://joann.shoplocal.com/joannsalesflyer/Default.aspx?action=browsepageflash&storeid=2412281&rapid=1804957&pagenumber=1&prvid=JoAnnStores-121001ED&promotioncode=JoAnnStores-121001ED

If I’m not mistaken, you can use contact paper for etching… You can buy the kind with a white back, trace whatever lettering you want, and use an exacto knife to cut out the shapes… It’d be a whole lot cheaper than buying a cricut. 🙂

You could also check you local scrap stores. The ones near me have girls nights a couple nights a week and you pay like 10 bucks to go use and try all their machienes. That way you can make sure to get them exactly how you want them.
