My cycles used to be exactly 28 days on the dot.  I knew the day, time and minute I would be getting my period.  Now its so out of whack I never know when I’m getting in.  In fact I was at 28 days last Thursday, no period, I figured it would arrive over the weekend, no period.  Here I am 8 days later and still no period.

My FI is fixed so I know that I’m not pregnant but I’m really kind of scared.  I mean am I going through early menopause?  I’m only 32!

@Utopia4us:  I’m thinking I’ll give it another week before I go.  As long as I’m not having any crazy symptoms like pelvic/abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting or crazy weight gain than there isn’t much I can do about it.  There are a lot of possibilities why its late, but unless there are serious symptoms I assume its not life threatening.  I’m hoping its just stress or because I’ve lost weight recently.

I guess my advice right now is just to not stress out about it.  I think sometimes the more we stress about it the later it arrives.  Give it maybe another week like I am and if still nothing go to your doctor.  Unless you’re having weird symptoms like I said its probably nothing other than stress.

@Utopia4us:  I saw my Orthopedic doctor about my knee today and she wants me to have an MRI.  So she’s making me do a pregnancy test just to be sure.  I’m pretty sure its a waste of money, but I suppose necessary because if I am than I shouldn’t do the MRI.

Stress can cause changes in AF. I haven’t been on BC for years and AF is usually fairly regular, but if I am dealing with anything stressful it can throw it off.  For example, I had a particularly stressful month this summer and AF never showed. Then it got back on track for a few months and came the week off my wedding on schedule…then two weeks later, AF came again. Now I am back on track. Lol

Hoping everything is OK!

@MissCountryGirl727:  Can I ask how late you were before your AF came back?  I’m 9 days late, test was negative, plus FI is fixed so doubtful I would even be to begin with.  My doctor is aware and is now thinking I might be going into early menopause.  I have other health issues that would have caused this.  I’m just nervous/scared.  I have so many health issues I don’t want this on top of it.

@Utopia4us:  Test was negative.  Still no sign of AF.  I’m going to have an US and lab work to see why my AF is late.  Doctor is thinking early menopause…just what I need.

@NurseMandie:  I basically skipped the whole month of June.  I’m not sure exactly, at the time I didn’t keep track very well at the time, I just knew that normally AF shows around the 15-17th. When it started back the next month, it was exactly on time, like it normally would have been.  FX that everything is ok!

@MissCountryGirl727:  Thanks.  It’s just really strange for me.  I always get my period whether its early or late but I’ve never been 9 days late before (except the 2 times I was pregnant and the whole year I was 16, but that was due to medication and probably the cause of my early menopause if that’s truly what is going on).

If it is early menopause there’s going to be a lot more health issues coming my way.  I’d be at higher risk for osteoporosis (I already have the starting of it in my back), increased risk for breast ca, increased risk for fractures….ugh.

@Utopia4us:  Thanks.  I did end up getting my period after being 18 days late.  Now my cycles are all messed up.  I got AF for 10 days after that, really heavy, horrible cramps etc.  I had a week off, got AF again for 7 days, now I’ve been off that period for a week.  I’m not getting the same PMS symptoms I have normally got in the past and have been having weird symptoms lately.  The frustrating part is that all my tests come back normal.  It makes me want to scream because I don’t want to seem like I’m a hyperchondriac but I know my body and its not acting right lol.

@Utopia4us:  There are other tests like x-ray tests, ultrasounds and stuff but they are not really all that helpful with diagnosing menopause.  They are used more to see if there is a blockage in the fallopian tubes that would cause no ovulation.  There is a blood test that I guess will tell you if you are fertile or not. I read that its used for patients who are having trouble conceiving and it will tell the doctor and patient if the woman is low in eggs. The hospital I work at doesn’t do this test but I’m looking to see is maybe one of the OB/GYN doctors around here do.  If my periods continue to be all crazy than I will probably have the ultrasounds but I’m not sure exactly how in depth that will tell her if its a menopausal issue or not.  It would tell her if its fibroids, cysts etc though.
