Do you have any marketable talents or skills? Like, can you do graphic design or sing or bake beautiful pastries? Be honest with yourself. If you are very good, sometimes you can get people to barter services. It can be tricky to find someone who needs your skill set, but not impossible. Maybe you could do 40 hours of yard work for someone in exchange for an amazing cake or someone playing guitar for your ceremony?

Donate plasma! It’s free and only takes an hour or so. Going 2x a week earns $55 in my area

For the space check local churches, community centers, parks and halls. They often aren’t free, but very cheap.

Open a etsy.com store to sell your goods

Have a potluck reception.

Have the ceremony in a city park (usually free)

@kdjess84:  What amount is “serious debt?” 

I hate to see people go into debt for a wedding.

Would you consider a park wedding with immediate family and then go to dinner afterwards?
