That ao dai material from Calvin Hiep is so nice!  Do you mind letting me know how much he is charging for ao dai’s?  I am thinking of getting one of my friends who is currently in Vietnam right to get one made for me and bring it back but I am nervous it won’t turn out as nice as in the pictures online.

&  That dress by Tho Dinh is amazing, too bad the price tag is a bit steep.. :/

LOL! i have never heard of the case where the couple breaks up after the engagement. Usually if youre doing the engagement, the wedding comes  4-6 months after 🙁 scary huh? but i guess those couples really didnt work out. hihiihi

Well i just had my engagement in august.
My fiance is not too much taller than me so i probably wont go out all traditional with the jacket and hat/turban thing. hihi

for the part where your friend (if i recall correctly) ordered and the clothes was ill fitted..probably its the measurements? or maybe you guys went to a new tailor, unexperienced. sorry to hear though.

I have about 10 + ao dais and all are measured by myself or family, and tailored over there to bring over to me. all fits me absolutely fine 🙂 For my engagement, unfortunately, i had no one going back so i had to turn to ordering one online–which is doubled the pricing compared to all my other ones and shipping fees hihi
but yeah–my dress turned out not too bad after all. 🙂
here are some pictures 🙂 http://qt88pie.wordpress.com/

i ordered that from http://www.aodaiheaven.com
just beware that pictures of the models in the ao dais are usually pprofessional photos with good lighting and photoshopping so colors are bound to not look like that.
Here is the link to my dress http://aodaiheaven.com/product.php?ltp=en|2|2|418|1

as you can see, the pictured ao dai on the website is more of an apricot/pastel orange where as in my photos is like a bright sunset/sunkist orange. I liked the color in the photo (pink, apricot and yellow was my theme colors for the engagement) but the color came bright and i LOVED it…still do. hihi 😀 maybe not many would, but it turned out to be great and i got so many compliments from it.

I had to edit my engagement pictures so that i can bring out (to the best of my ability) the true color of the dress as much as possible. My mom is an ao dai addict (i see where i got my blood from lol) and she said that was just beautiful because the color was not too bright and not too dark, it was just perfect and the craftmanship wasnt too bad.

oh i forgot to mention—i asked the tailor if it would look nice in 3/4 sleeves and she siad it would be a younger look—and she said she would recommend it to me after she found out how old i was. hihi

it is always best to get measured by the one who makes it. 🙂
