So, I wrote back in May about how my (future) fiance and I had gotten my ring, and how it already made me anxious to have it and not be in “proposal limbo” but two weeks ago today, he proposed!
I was getting rather anxious, since he already had the ring, and all he had to do was put my mother’s diamond in it, but he wanted it to be fall, which is my favorite season and he wanted it to be at my favorite apple orchard.
He had even planned to do it in September but that weekend was right after my godfather/uncle’s sudden funeral and he didn’t deem it appropriate. So, we went on a camping trip to Michigan (we live in OH) and we went to the orchard in the morning. He said to go look over at the other aisle of trees and he would look over there, because they were sadly pretty picked over by now. He then said to come over here, he found a good tree. In which a wooden box was hanging from a red ribbon. The box was shaped like an apple. I took it down, curious. And then he said that I was the “the apple of his eye” “his favorite teacher” and other romantic stuff you need not now lol, then got down on one knee and proposed!
He is NOT a woodworker, and yet he had carved this box by himself, and it even has a hinge and it has a little spot to keep the ring. He had made me a homemade apple jewelry box! And the ring was the lovely original 1920’s art deco ring I had loved and it had my mother’s diamond in the middle ( I hadn’t seen it all together yet)
Now, I am knee deep in trying to create a lovely Victorian/Edwardian wedding without going over budget and without going crazy over people who don’t share my vision lol. But finally had the chance to post the proposal, so here you go! And to all you ladies waiting, stop pressuring your men…they might have the perfect vision of the engagement and it might take time. Don’t grow weary.
