Hi Everyone! I have a nephew who I’m thinking of lighting candles prior to the wedding ceremony, and he will be almost 9. Is this too young?? Thanks!

I lit some candles at home around that age. And set a tablecloth on fire.
I think he’ll be totally fine under all the supervision.

Have him practice and somebody on stand-by in case there is a problem, but I think it will be fine!

I think it’s ok as long as he’s not playing/fidgeting with them afterward. What does his mother think?

@atlbride2013: I was an altar server beginning at age 8. I lit the candles in the church for masses. It was fine.

@LilRhodyGem: I agree, I think that as long as its supervised it’s totally fine. I was just playing with candles, thought my mom would kill me. lol.

@LilRhodyGem: I was just about to say this – I became an alter server at 8 or 9 as well!
I think it depends on the kid though. You know your nephew… and perhaps get the opinion of his parents as well, but I think that is an appropriate age.

@Jnesiba99: I think 9 is definitely old enough, but you know the maturity of your nephew best
