So on my dress shopping adventure I eventually chose the Maggie Sottero Lorie and while I really love it I am starting to question whether it is too “fancy” for our venue/theme of being simple and almost family style/country wedding.
Here is the dress on me
And here are a couple pictures of the venue
Do you think I am just being overcritical? Is there anything I can do accessory/hair wise that will help to keep the over all style more simple/classic?

You are the bride. I don’t think it is possible for a bride to be overdressed for her own wedding.

@jennify: Ditto with the pp. The bride is expected to stand out from any venue.

@jennify: I think that the floral motif of the lace compliments the rustic nature of the venue quite well.

I’m also a Lorie bride and I don’t think it is too much for your venue. Maybe look for a less blingy belt if you are really concerned? I think the bride SHOULD stand out on her wedding day. The dress looks great on you. Your venue is beautiful. Make the most of it!

I think the dress is perfect. It’s really beautiful and you look gorgeous in it. That being said. It is your weedding day, and if you want to go all out on your dress, DO IT. Even if you have a city hall wedding you could wear a big puffy gown. It’s your day, make it about you, your SO, and the love you two share for each other.
As for keeping your overall look more “casual”, maybe try wearing your hair the way you usually do, but slightly more styled, with a pretty hair piece that isn’t too flashy.
Another suggestion is a side updo with a beautiful pin. It looks awesome with both shorter and longer hair. If you are confident in curling your own hair, you could actually do this at home yourself. You would just need to buy the accessory of choice, sturdy hair pins, and your fav. hair spray. 😀
