April 2013 bees ~  we have about 18(ish) months to go ~ What do you have done already ??  Do you feel like you should have more or less done ??  We have booked our venue, photographer, dj, cake and flowers... pretty much the big things... and people keep telling me how "ahead of the game" we are ~ but I would rather have all of the big things done and be able to focus on the "fun" stuff.... lol  ;)

@sherma25:  that is exactly why we are planning ahead ~ finances ;)  It will be easier, less stressful, we will get more options that we want, and it will still be here before we know it !  =D

We are in Vermont and spring here is beautiful I think ... A lot of people go for the fall foliage weddings but I have seen it all of my life and its just another season to us ;)

@sherma25:  Hey there ! Welcome to the club... lol... I am going to be starting a weight loss routine so a weigh in would be cool on here, but my downfall is that I have a feeling I'm not going to be very good at it until the holidays are done   :(  My family is all about the food and eating A LOT during this season... haha....

Hey ladies! I'm an April 2013 bride as well.

I have my dress and most of the reception decor picked out. Our wedding is going to be pretty laid back and mostly DIY so we don't have to worry about booking anyone for the cake, flowers, entertainment, hair, or make-up. I'll be taking care of all of that.

I thought that we were ahead of the game, but judging by everything y'all have done, I need to get a move on.

Hey Ladies!! I'm an April 2013 bride as well. We have our venue and photographer and thats about it. I'm going dress shopping in a couple weeks which I am really excited about. The dress I love takes about 9 months to come in which seems insane!! I guess it needs to be custom fitted with the exact shoes because they can't hem the bottom. Anyway, I can't wait to start planning everything else. I heard the next thing I should be booking is the church and Dj. Good luck planning everyone!!

I plan on DIY-ing a lot so I need to utilize this time!

I am not sure if I am March or April yet, but I am leaning towards April. I have lots done because I was originally getting married Fall 2011 and changed the plans. I have to re find a new venue, caterer, photographer though but I haven't done any of that yet. Around here people look at you like you have 3 heads when you plan a year in advance much less THIS far in advance.

    hey ladies!

im not even engaged yet but im 99% positive that we will be getting married in APRIL 2013 OR May. Depends on the venue availability but I would fine with either dates that I've chosen. April won't be as hot, and my parents also got married in April...AND it's the month me and my SO fell head over heels so this is what I'm hoping for.

Ever so anxiously waiting for the proposal so I can get crackin on setting things in stone instead of just daydreaming and fake planning all day! lol

    Hey ladies!

I am officially an April 2013 bride, too! Just booked our venue for April 19th...wooohoo.

Also, I bought my dress today. I feel silly for buying this early...but this was the only time before the wedding my mom could shop with me and there was a sale ending this weekend, so I saved $200.

I get a lot of "wow you are so on top of things..." followed by "I wish I would have done that...."

Anyone else get that statement often?

I've done close to nothing! I think my issue is I'm looking at a lot of inspiration photos and reading peoples blogs, and recaps and have too many ideas swimming in my head. I also found when I start looking around some vendors seems to not take me serious and a lot even told me to come back at a year out! Anyways we narrowed it down to four venues and are still trying to decided which state to have it in. We have a couple of open houses coming up which we hope will help us make a choice. I think the first thing we are going to takle is making a budget.

I'm going to be an April bride too. My biggest concern is the weather because we're having an outdoor wedding. I'm waiting on the new Farmer's Almanac to come out in August and then I'll feel more safe with my chosen date.

I haven't done much in the way of planning other than buying vintage glassware and other objects for my DIY reception. I can't even decide on colors!

We're sending in the contract for our venue, and I have my dress.  I've also been collecting brooches to make my brooch bouquet.  Lately I've been looking at photography; we know several photographers (1 professional, one semi, and one who is great but does it for fun and has never done a wedding), so this summer we'll get in touch with them and try to figure that out.  Not sure what we're doing about food yet.

Wow!  You ladies are so far ahead of me!  We only have reception and photographer.  I hope to get my dress sometime this month.  I've been engaged for quite a few months now but slacked and just picture-planned everything.  Now that the real bookings are happening, things are starting to feel more real!

Hi all! I am new here but we are getting married April 20, 2013. We have the church, reception, dj, photographer, limo, florist, bridesmaid dresses have been selected (color: plum)  and the honeymoon booked. We choose St. Lucia - we will be staying at Sandals La Toc from 4/22-4/28. We initally wanted to book a week but for one less night, the price dropped $900! So instead we will just come home and have an extra day to relax. We have 2 dogs so we will be missing them while we are away.

I can't get enough of the planning!! I love looking for ideas and hearing suggestions!

@c0l0urful1: thank you! any help help would be much apprecitated!

@katie953: st. lucia sounds amazing! and obviously the longer the vaca the better but saving 900 is even BETTER. i would have done the same thing!

..as of right now we don't have anything booked. i'm going to throw out our ideas and any thoughts/opinions/suggestions would be awesome :)

we're thinking a cherry blossom theme, colors being pink and teal.. centerpieces would consist of tall cylinder shaped vases with riverrocks/riverglass and filled with water and possibly a cherry blossom branch?.. the fiance really wants to put a beta fish in each vase.. and we'd probably include a few tea lights on each table.. all on top of a mirrored plate.. favors possibly boxed candies, glass coasters, or a small bamboo pictureframe that can double as a place card?

thats all we really have right now.. hopefully we can do a lot of DIY things because we are trying to keep our total budget low!

greenbuggy246    April 6, 2013   Jacksonville, FL (Wedding in Key West)

I'm an April 2013 bride as well! So happy to find others out there. We're decided to do a destination wedding in Key West. We've already booked our venue and photgrapher. I went dress shopping the last 2 weekends and I think I've narrowed it down to at least 2 dresses. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up with the Allure 8856. I'm going to an Allure truck show next weekend and will hopefully put a deposit on the dress. I also went shopping with my bridesmaids for dresses. I'm doing Dessy dresses so I gave them the color and fabric and they can pick whatever style they want.

This weekend I've been working on getting things together for our E-session. Finally found my 2 outfits!!! I'm debating whether my FI should have 2 outfits...what do you bees think? Is it weird if I change and he doesn't?

@KBCPurdue:  I can totally relate to both of those statements! I've been getting that a lot. My FI and I both travel a lot for work so we need to plan when we're actually home and have the time to think about it.

I see ALOT of wedding date buddies!!!! Im still trying to get used 2 my date. My original date was April 6, 2013 but someone booked my wedding date before I got a chance to and April 13 was the only other date FI and I could get married on in April AND I want to be married in April SO BADLY (great weather around this time for an outdoor ceremony ;)). So since that happened, its really just been game on, lol! Im trying to book things before someone else gets a chance to, but I dont mind getting things done early and the things Ive booked was all on great deals. I got my photographer for 4 hrs for $500 (and he is great!!!). I got a photo booth for $350 (and its big enough to EASILY seat 6 adults). And I booked an all inclusive venue that takes care of EVERYTHING (food, decor, chairs, tables, linens, EVERYTHING) and has everything (including food and DJ) all for 3K (and that includes tax). Next Saturday Im going to meet with a wedding officiant recommended to us by our venue and after that my bridesmaids and I are going to shop for bridesmaid dresses. I already have my dress. We are getting our invitations free with the rental purchase of tuxes and grooms tux is free as well. We are not doing save-the-dates. Um, I think thats about all Ive done so far.

Hey everyone! We're getting married April 21, 2013 here in Nova Scotia! Hoping for some nice spring weather as it's an outdoor wedding. We have the venues, officiant, caterer, decorator, dj/mc, and our photographer and people keep telling me i'm "getting ahead of myself", but geez you guys are making me feel like i'm behind haha.

I've also selected the bridesmaid dresses (sort of, I picked the length/fabric/colour and they're picking their own styles) and shoes. I'm not planning on wedding dress shopping until the summer as tempting as it is! I'd really like to lose a bit of weight before dress shopping, would hate to have it be an unpleasant experience if I feel uncomfortable.

Question: what are you guys doing for favours? I'd like to do something spring-y, but need some inspiration.

@TwoCityBride:  Oh Ive learned very quickly when you start talking about a deposit, they become very interested in booking with you. We have booked our venue, photographer, and photo booth. I am meeting with an officiant next weekend and we are DIY our flowers. Decorations, DJ and food are covered by the venue and included in the price. I just have to tell them what I want. We are getting free invitations from where the groomsmen are renting their tuxes. We are not doing save-the-dates but doing programs. So as far as MAJOR financial decisions, we just have to worry bout the wedding cake and grooms cake (and Im working with the baker on that now) and the honeymoon. Thats about it.

    Hi Fellow Month Twins!

I too am having an April 2013 wedding.  We've selected our venue (amazing catering included), photographer, dj, florist, and makeup/hair artist.  I just need to put down deposits. Yeah!

We've had our honeymoon picked since before we were engaged.  FI said that this may by my one and only chance to splurge on a trip, so we are going to Ireland!  As long as our savings plan hold true, we will not have to put any portion of our wedding or honeymoon on credit!  Yeah!

@rubybride718:  Good luck with your goal!

My goal is 61lbs. Sounds kind of weird but it is just something I want to acheive. I have 2 clear vases in my kitchen. One vase has 61 marbles in it (the amount of LBS I want to lose) and the other one is empty. Each week when I weigh in, I will move however many lbs I lost from the full marble jar to the empty one. This way, even if I don't notice a change, or feel different, I have a visual reminder that it is working, just keep going!

I would love to have nice toned arms!

@katie395:  That's a really cool way of staying motivated.

I pretty much plan on losing 30 lbs by diet/lots of cardio by July and then doing P90x to tone up from there.  That should lead me into October and by then it will be time to order my dress!

I've gotten my venue and DJ... I found a photographer I like (an aquaintance of my sister's) but they have not gotten back to me in almost two months... so I guess back to the drawing board on that!
