Hello. I am in the process of gearing up to propose to my girlfriend. Always when we’ve spoken about getting married we have said we would like matching engagement ring. Whoever proposes, buys one ring, and then at a later date, the other will give the same ring to the partner. That’s how we’ve agreed to do it and have agreed not to spend more than £700 on a ring each os the other doesn’t feel guilt tripped in to buying a really expensive ring if they recieve an expensive one on the proposal.
I’ve found this ring which I’ll know she’ll love. She loves aquamarine and the ring is in a style we would both like – very simple and understated and modern. However, because we’d be having matching rings, I would obviously be wearing this ring too. I like it and although like aquamarine aswell, and think it’s a gorgeous ring, am concerned about having a coloured stone. Not because I want a diamond, though that would be nice (but expensive!) but because I worry will it always go with what I’m wearing? Could the blue sotne be too flashy even though it’s very pale?
What is everyones thoughts on aquamarine engagement rings? Does anyone have them? Do you find they go with your clothes ok? I have attached the ring below.

I don’t think the blue stone would clash with clothes at all. I think it is beautiful!

I think that it is a smart and stylish choice and she would love it

Love it! Aquamarine is a subtler blue, and also it’s not a huge stone or a solitaire, so it’s not the obvious centre of attention/focal point. It won’t clash!

First off, I think that ring is beautiful!
I have an aqua e-ring and I LOVE it. Mine tends to photograph as more blue than it actually is so it actually is a little lighter in real life. Also it looks different colors in different lights: most blue in direct sunlight, palest (almost to where you can’t tell it’s colored) under fluorescent lights.
I’ve had no problems at all coordinating it with what I wear but I do usually wear a lot of blues, greys, greens, etc anyway, so that probably helps.
One thing to keep in mind is that aquas can vary in color quite a bit. Maybe you could give your GF one that is more deeply colored, and you could have one that was paler? They would still be alike but maybe that way you would feel more comfortable with it.

What a sweet idea! I think the ring is gorgeous and would look great on her and you. Maybe she could wear a diamond eternity band with it when she gets married, I can see that being nice. I think aquamarine is a beautiful stone and you won’t have to worry about coordinating. Congrats in advance!

I LOVE the ring you picked out.

I like the ring and don’t feel like it should clash- you don’t really need to match everything perfectly, but I would suggest trying that ring on before buying it. It looks pretty thick for not having rounded edges, and might be uncomfortable if you’re not used to wearing something like that!

I lovvee the ring you picked out. I have a colored gemstone engagement ring (it’s violet) and I honestly never worry about it matching or not matching with my clothes.

That’s a gorgeous ring. I especially love the modern look it has. I don’t think it would clash. I have a blood red ering & it honestly never occurs to me to match it to anything I wear or to ever worry if it matches. To me, jewelry is neutral. Get what you like. Husbands wedding band it blood red too. He never worries either.

It is a beautiful stone and I don’t think rings have to match your clothes. My dad bought me a ruby that I always wear and I’ve never thought it looked bad with my outfit o.o;

I think it’s beautiful! Aquamarine is my favourite gemstone. My SO got me an aquamarine “promise ring” that I wear on my ring finger, and it gets so many compliments from strangers. It goes with everything too, especially since it’s a light blue colour.

Ok ladies, I get the message – thanks very much 🙂 When I go to see it in person, I will be sure to post pictures so you can all get a look at the stone.

I also have an aquamarine e-ring, and it is my birthstone. Though it doesn’t ever really “clash” with anything I wear, I have found myself favoring lots of blues and greys (obviously) when it comes to nail color and clothes shopping. But I absolutely LOVE my ring, and get compliments on it all the time…especially from young girls working the drive-thru!
I personally like the pale shades of aquamarine as the darker colors often get mistaken for blue topaz. My jeweler told me the darker the stone, the more expensive it is…so luckily for my FI I chose the palest option they offered 🙂
