    Hi,

I am aiming of a timeless wedding all my decor, dress, hair, jewelry will be able to be looked at 10 years from now and still look good in photos. However, I love birdcage veils because they have a vintage aspect but I keep hearing people refer to them as trendy which one are they?

Here's an article I found on the topic:

    http://theslightlyobsessivebride.blogspot.com/2010/01/wedding-veils-timeless-or-trendy.html

However, another article said they were timeless, since they were popular in the 40's.

honestly, nothing is timeless. your dress, decor, hair, and jewelry will look outdated in 20 years, and your kids will laugh at the pictures. that's just the way it is!

Timeless! They were worn at many occasions decades ago. Watch a few old black and white movies.

They are just coming back into the trend, so I say they are both. Trendy at this moment, but also can be worn at any time.

I think birdcage veils are very trendy (but if you love them, who cares?).  If you truely want timeless though, a longer veil would likely be your best bet.

    Both!

Birdcage veils are a nod to the 40s. Think of all those vintage hats w/ veils. So the style is similar and a reminder of that era.

    And.

They are trendy, b/c they are making a huge comeback, whereas we havn't seen many of them through the 70s-90s.

@superplannerbee:nope, no ruffles here! i was just saying that you should get whatever you love now instead of worrying about if you'll still love it in 10 years.

I picked a birdcage veil because my dress is a 40s vintage style and it looked better with the dress than any of the others. Plus, for me the fingertip and cathedral length veils are too traditional.

I think both. Since they are from a different era and they still look great then they are timeless. Since they are making a comeback then it's trendy.

Trendy to me is pick up styles in dresses. This was never popular until recently and will go out of style soon.

Colored wedding shoes are trendy because no one ever did it before.

They're trendy, but I don't think they are as trendy as some other trends... if that even makes any sense!!  I can't really explain it.... I have seen pics of people who got married the 80s, and then people who got married in the 80s.  The people who didn't follow the more extreme trends still look outdated, but not nearly as much.

I think it depends on how it is worn and what with. I have seen bird cage veils in all the eras through photos. Some I look at and thing "stunning" and some I look at and think "what were they thinking". I think it is always best to stay within the rule - wear the item, don't let the item wear you - if you want it to stay timeless.

I think that the birdcage veil a trendy look back to the 40's...I think you can wear them in many ways (depending on other elements of your wedding style/hair/etc) and some look more timeless while others are very trendy (not always a bad thing)

Everything comes in, and goes out, in seasons. If you like the look of it now, and it goes with the style of your dress, then go for it. I will be wearing a blusher with my gown because I love the look of it...just "do you"....

    Kitzy is right.

But that's part of the fun of it all--what good is it unless your kids can laugh at it 20 years from now? Even Princess Di didn't outwit the eighties.

I think the simple ones are timeless.  The ones with giant feathers, etc. attached... trendy
