    I personally do not love them, however I have seen a few weddings where they’re not so terrible….

    Tacky or not, we have no other option than to use them for our ceremony. The chairs offered by our venue are UGLY but since it’s a Sunday of a long weekend and it’s a semi-destination wedding, it would cost us $470 to rent chairs for the day. Compared to the $65 it just cost me to buy chair covers it’s not even a question.

    I personally don’t think they are tacky though. In the right setting they can look very elegant IMO.

    ETA: We won’t have them at the reception, just the ceremony.

    I don’t think they’re tacky, they’re just terrible to sit on.  I think they look nice in pictures though.

    i wouldn’t call them tacky.  i don’t like them but would never judge someone for having chair covers.

    Personally, I hate it when Bees post any question asking “Is ___ tacky?”

    There is nothing tacky about chair covers. It is a matter of personal taste, and sometimes a choice of lesser evils- the chairs or the chair covers.

    I think it depends on the size of the room. Smaller the venue room, no. Larger, yes.

    But either way, I’m not a huge fan.  Depending on the brides taste and how it’s decorated, it can look too white. The last wedding i was at, the venue room was small, and it was just hideous with all the white table clothes, white chair covers.  May have looked better in a bigger venue room, spread out more.

    I don’t think they’re tacky, just an unnecessary expense, IMO.

    @julies1949:  I agree with this. When I was planning my first wedding I went to a different wedding planning forum (it’s not around anymore) and the T word was actually banned!

    I think it depends on the venue and the chairs they provide.  On my venue criteria list was “nice looking chairs.”  If they provide “ugly” chairs, it does look nice to cover them and provide a colored sash.  Not tacky.  But it’s a personal preference.  I didn’t want chair covers as an extra expense (typ. $5/chair).

    I don’t like the word tacky, so I didn’t vote. I’m not a big fan, especially when the chairs underneath look fine on their own. I guess I don’t understand spending the money on them. Even if the chairs were really ugly, I would personally rather spend the money renting nice chairs instead.

    @lina010:

    I was at a wedding last weekend and they had these tight one like this

    which I personally like better than the loose ones with bows

    I dont care for them but for some people they probably have no other options bc the cost of renting a nice chair is much higher.

    I had chivaris so we did not need chair covers. That said, I’ve been to weddings with chair covers and it really depends. I went to one where it was like a table cloth was tied to each chair with a giant knot and it kept slipping and sliding. As a guest, it was totally a PITA to make sure you weren’t going to trip on the pool of fabric coming off the chair every time you moved. In that case, it was super annoying to have chair covers. On the other hand, if you have ones that fit properly and are actually chair covers, they’re great.
