Sorry, I might be the only no in the end, but I wouldn't use those. It's more than likely that they won't match a ton of peoples decor and just get thrown away or left. Just leave them out and save your $$.
I have to agree with KateMW. Most people (I think) are either coaster people or not coaster people. If they are they most likely have some of their own already. And I agree that they will most likely not match their decor and get stuffed in a closet somewhere until they throw it out.
Sorry. :(
I'm not a fan of the idea. Save your time and energy! I think you can scrounge up a better idea. It's cute, don't get me wrong, I just don't think it's as useful in the long run
We are definitely thinking of doing coasters as favors. Our guests are very much like us so we know they would appreciate them. I think its a fine idea. However, what we are hoping to do is get some coasters personalized, not with our names, but with Cheers! written (Or pressed) in English and our two heritage languages.
This is the perpetual dilemma of favors! No one thing is going to be useful to everyone, and if it were, then it probably wouldn't be affordable to the bride! So if you're going to do favors, then I think these are a very cute choice. I would probably use these if I got them at a wedding.
I think coasters are a FANTASTIC idea! Ive never seen that before. Almost makes me wanna rethink my own favors!
i could go either way. it kind of looks like a lot of work. i would like them though.
i'm planning to do an ornament, which is basically a picture frame without the 'stand' on the back. i'm going to tie a red ribbon at the top (my color) and use them as placecard holders. they can then take them home and put any picture they want inside and hang it on their tree.
any thoughts?

Personally I prefer consumable favors. I've never liked getting mix CDs, trinkets, etc. If I can eat or drink it I'm happy. :)
I love the coaster idea for favors! I've already purchased mine from American Bridal. They come in a pack of 2 and they are picture coasters. So each couple will get a total of 4 coasters that they will be able to personalize with their own pictures. Each set of 2 was only $1.04!!
Cool idea, I think they are really pretty in the picture. If I were a guest I would use it around my house and remember that particular day when I looked at it.

I have been struggling with an idea for favors that are useful and under $1. Chocolates are out (our site is has a room air conditioner, but I'm afraid that they'd melt without central air). I found this gorgeous idea today: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2009/03/30/diy-coasters
I'm not planning on making them scream "wedding favor" (they'll match our decor, but won't include names and our wedding date). So my question is: would these be destined for the junk pile like countless other wedding favors?
