I would say go for it! I've definitely seen this in weddings before, and it goes to show that the bride is very considerate to the different sizes and shapes of her bridesmaids. Kudos to you 
I'm doing two different dresses for my two bridesmaids, I even said they could have different materials and colors but they ended up picking the same material and color. I got lucky!
I hope that it looks good, but I figured it will probably look much better than making two women, one a size 2 and one a size 22, wear the same dress. Now if I could only get my fiance's sister to buy the stupid thing ...
I did David's Bridal because I wanted to keep the costs down. The dresses are in cotton, similar to some of the J Crew dresses, which I love but which don't come in large enough sizes.

im having my bms wear different dresses and i think its always adorable--no matter the size of the wedding party. it looks great and the bms actually get to wear something flattering and to their taste (shocking!)

I am doing different dresses with 4 (that I HATE - as per my post...)
Its going to look fabulous! It will be something nice for them to distinguish themselves, the only main thing you have to think about is sure the dresses can be the same fabric/color, but making sure they are cohesive as well brings it together a bit better
I only have 2 BMs, and they are both wearing black chiffon knee-length dresses that they chose. My only requirements were that they pick something black, knee-length and flowy. I let them go from there! I think it will look fabulous, because each BM got to pick their own dress, something they love and are comfortable in.

I have 6 bms in my wedding, and they are all having different dresses (same color, just different styles). I like the idea o fthis. I especially like it with 2 girls.... :)

I have only 2 bridemaids and they just picked out their dresses (from David's Bridal). They got different ones, but in the same color. I think different dresses is a really great look, especially with only 2 bridesmaids!
Yes different styles are totally acceptable and a great way to compliment your BM's. My sister let me pick out the style at her wedding just the colour was specified. Good luck.
I went to a wedding yesterday where the b'maids all wore their own version of the LBD. It was FINE! The b'maids seemed to also like the fact they were able to wear THEIR choice for a change.

For sure! I think it looks like you were okay with not having clone bridesmaids, and I bet the dresses would reflect your bridesmaid's individual personalities for which I bet they'd be so grateful!!
Yes- its fine! I am doing it. My sister & MOH are wearing two different styles & colors (the colors are related though). Not because I wanted them to, my sister was a very.... stubborn girl. So I had to be ok with them wearing two different styles. And I have to say I actually like that now, because they aren't all matchy matchy, it fits their personalities... and gives the outfits more of a branched out feel as far as tastes go.
I am having two bridesmaids, and they are wearing different dresses in the same color. I think with two, it's actually weird if they wear identical outfits, like they're trying to be twins or something.

Would it be okay to have my two maids in different dresses? I would request that the wear the same color, length and material from a particular manufacturer. I've seen this look good on large groups but I'm not sure that I've seen it on such a small wedding party before.
