The queen of procrastination (me) is trying to put together favors at the very last minute. I have had a tree/plant theme all through the wedding. trees on save the dates, invitations and now I’ve made a tree guest book that the guests will put their thumbprints on for leaves! So for the favors I wanted something “green”.
I really love to garden and most guests know that about me so I had seen another bee’s great idea to use flower seed packets for favors. So I went on the hunt for seed packets to find that I have waited too long and they are no longer in season. Then the lady at home depot suggested bulbs…which is fun because they could plant them right away (my wedding is this weekend) and they will pop up in the spring. But now I have two problems with this…cost prohibits me from putting more than a few bulbs in each baggy and I had read somewhere on here that edible favors are the best. Im afraid that they may look too cheap and no one will want them. Im second guessing myself hard core and I dont know what to do!
What do you think? do the bulbs? switch to jordan almonds in a baggy or do nothing at all?

Do the bulbs! It sounds like something that people will actually use and when they pop up next spring they’ll remember your wedding. There’s no need for it to be edible. My favors are one of those piece of paper things that have seeds in it that you plant.

Favors are never required, first of all. The flower bulbs sound great and most people would prefer those over the almonds.
Just because folks on the boards have a certain preference, that doesn’t mean that your guests have the exact same opinions. It’s a suggestion, based on someone else’s personal preferences who won’t even be attending your wedding, not gospel, so take them with a grain of salt and do what works best for you and your guests.

I think bulbs are a great idea!

I see nothing wrong with putting a few bulbs in each one. And if you ahve some that do not take them that leaves you with extras for your garden 🙂
EDIT: I did not do an edible favor either. And if people don’t want them at the end of the day then it is more for me 🙂

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say that I wouldn’t know what to do with the bulbs. To be honest, I kill any plant I touch so it would be wasted on me. That being said, I’m sure you’ll have tons left over to plant in your own garden!
