I probably wouldn't spend the extra money on it. Maybe you could just do a cheaper chocolate favour and do normal placecards for less money. It would be going in my belly anyways, so there's no point to it having my name on it :)
I was thinking I wouldn't do it when I read the title of this post, but after your description it sounds super cute. I personally think I would love it, especially since it could count as a placecard and favor in one. But I would consider what your own budget is for placecards and favors and see if it fits.
Im with lawshool bride. it sounds like a cute idea so if its in your placecard/favor budget then go for it. Im all about edible favors!
ohh I love this idea! I think its worth it as long as they don't melt...but your wedding is in november.
if you have the extra funds, this would come out as a nice touch. but if you are running on a tight budget, i'd not recommend this.
I LOVE that idea. You are basically paying for a placecard and favor which I think is a good deal!
If the price is giving you heartburn, there are less expensive ways to have an edible placecard that is just a bit different. For example, you could put really any little treat into a treat bag and tie it off with sme ribbon and a tag with the guest's name and table number on it.
Anyway, if I'm misunderstanding and the price is no problem at all, then I think it's a cute idea. If the price is an issue, then there is my suggestion for getting the same general idea for a lower price point. And if it's neither of those things, sorry I was no help! :)
Price isn't really an issue--we're buying them in the states, and when you convert the price into pounds, it fits in the budget--but I do like those little boxes with the ribbons wrapped around them like a little present with the guest's name on the tag... but maybe that's more generic? Dunno...
I did this! We got TONS of compliments on them! The cookie tasted really good too. :) (My grandmother did the sketch of the bridge, which you could see right outside our venue)

@Treasure43: Thank you! They were a bit of a splurge for us at $5 a cookie, but the guests reactions made it totally worth it. :) And I can justify the cost a bit since they were a place card and favor all in one. :)
My grandmother's reaction was priceless too, since she had no idea that we'd be putting her sketch on the cookies. (she made the sketch originally for our invites, but I wanted to incorporate it into the rest of our reception too).
@BrooklynBride10: Oooh do you have more photos of those? They look amazing!! I'm totally a curious monkey, sorry :)
@bakerella: No problem! I'm having issues grabbing the photo off flickr, but here's a guest photo:

Saw these really fun white chocolate edible placecards online, and thought they were really cute! Basically, we'd have the name of the guest written in black with a little black border around the edge--nothing super fancy, just something simple and classy to go with our black and ivory wedding. Plus, who doesn't want an edible favor that has THEIR name on it instead of the bride and groom's names? What I'm wondering is:
1. Are they worth the money, or will people barely notice that there is a piece of chocolate (not a wrapper, actual chocolate) that has their name on it? Each piece is $3.25 and comes wrapped in clear plastic with a little clear plastic stand.
2. Has anyone actually done this? If so, how did your guests react? Was it "just another crappy favor," or was it something they actually enjoyed?
