So, bees. Forgive me as I indulge in one of those “not really a problem” bride problems…
I need a little help. Since the beginning stages of planning I have been wanting navy blue to be the primary color of the wedding…and then light/pale/soft orange as an accent (as per my obvious Sooner fandom, I can’t have anyone thinking I am a TX or OSU fan, so have to avoid SUPER vibrant orange or burnt orange haha) . I have not ordered anything IN these colors up to this point, but it is getting down to the wire and soon I will be looking at making selections on bridesmaid dresses and centerpieces, etc.so I want to be sure.
I am starting to question how these colors will look as a July wedding. I love these colors, but I don’t want them to look weird. I have only seen these color pairings as a fall wedding. I am not going to overdo it with the orange–I am really only going to incorporate it with flowers: Bouquets/bouts, on the cake as accents, as centerpieces. And I am trying to keep it a light orange.
As background: ceremony is in a church, reception in a hotel ballroom (with neutral carpets and walls, thank god : ) Do you think these colors are too heavy? Is there a way to lighten them up…or should I abandon the orange? or the blue? haha Advice?

Do you have color swatches?
My cousin had her wedding in Navy and Orange as those were her favortie colors … The way she did it looked pretty good.

I think navy and orange is a pretty common pairing and if you like them you should go for it!

I think Navy and light orange would be very pretty! I really considered using navy for my wedding.
Or you could do black and orange (Go Cowboys! )

I think they will look pretty together. I think Navy is a pretty neutral color

I think that’s fine for summer, especially with a soft/light orange. In my mind fall colors would be rich, deep oranges and reds.

@Birdee106: hahahah I had to edit my post for that exact reason : ) Gotta avoid the Poke orange AND the nasty TX orange!!
EDIT: A swatch of navy blue that I found..the orange is hard to get right so I included some orange roses I like, but it should give an idea of what I am thinking. Orange swatches kind of suck, especially if you are looking for more flower tones.
Navy Blue… I swear I tried to shrink this thing a million times…enjoy!
love this color
this one seems a little more vibrant, but I like the mixture of colors in it.

I am having the same issue as you. My Favorite color is turquoise and my FI is Orange (I hate it) I decided the wedding would be a peacock feather “theme” and I will try to have the main colors be our two favorites… should be interesting lol

@Nel13: good luck, but I love peacock color schemes!

@MissSooner: i think navy and a soft orange would look beautiful.

- Wedding: March 2012 - Pelican Grand Beach Resort
I’m a Gator and so are msot of my friends and family and I’ve seen two people do blue and orange weddings. The colors didn’t work for one because they were too literal… serious orange and bright true blue, but the other one… the bride went more subtle using a bit of a navier blue and some soft oranges. It was BEAUTIFUL. Stunning.

Navy and Burnt Orange are my colors for my May wedding! I think the navy translates really well into the spring/summer/fall weddings for any season and since your pairing it with the lighter tangerine oranges you should be set!! Here is a picutre of our “inspriation” board or really the board of what we are having at our wedding for a little inspiration!!!

(also helped that blue and orage and complimentary on the color wheel so that also pushed it over the edge) Can’t wait to see what you do well have to keep in touch to see how the colors pay off!!!!!
