My wedding is May 3 and my dress just came in a couple weeks ago so I tried it on for the first time at the store (no pinning or anything). The actual alterations take place at their sister store which is out in the suburbs so they had the dress sent there and scheduled my fittings. My first is 3/27, my second is 4/17. Are these way too close to the wedding? The only things I need done are to have the bust taken in and the bustle to be created. I’ve been seeing people doing theirs 3+ months in advance and am starting to freak out just slightly!

@kat912: I have a May 3 wedding and I’m having my first fitting March 22 & final fitting April 4th.
As long as you’re fine with taking your bridals after April 17th, then that’s all dandy. I wouldn’t want to get my fitting too FAR from my wedding because I have a tendency to fluctuate in weight.

@kat912: I would think the closer to the wedding the better with a cushion of a week or two for any issues provided you have already seen and tried on the dress before hand.
Several brides I know ended up losing weight between their fittings and big day leaving their dress a little looser than planned. The longer you can wait the more perfectly fitted the dress will be!

I only had one fitting–my changes were pretty minor, like yours. My single fitting was less than three weeks before the wedding due to winter weather insanity, and it was totally fine!! I would not worry.

@kat912: Eesh. I brought mine in… early January? I think? Yeahhh, I waited a while. I had to have two fittings and I’m picking it up tonight. Don’t worry. 🙂

I didn’t start my alterations until one month prior.
