    Urine hCG Level :
    Urine hCG( HCG = pregnancy hormone) levels change over the course of the day depending on how much you drink and how diluted or concentrated the urine is. Urine pregnancy testing is best done with more concentrated urine. So how early can pregnancy be detected depends on the urine concentration and the quality of the early positive pregnancy test. If you drink a lot of fluid, the urine may be too diluted early on in pregnancy to achieve an hCG concentration adequate enough for a positive test.

    Do your periods usually run 28 days? Have you ever been this late on a period before? You definitely could be paranoid. Your best bet would be the blood test at the clinic.

    @DrTeeth:  That looks like a positive to me. Have you been using brand name tests (First Response, EPT) or just cheapie test (like Dollar Tree/store, generic brands) like the one pictured? If you’ve just hushed cheapies I’d suggest getting a Forst Response and see how that one turns out. HTH and good luck!

    I’m no expert but that looks like a line and for sure if your urine is too dilute and you are fairly early the urine test can be wrong because the urine test at the Dr office is the same stuff as a HPT. I would get those early response ones and try again in the morning first thing when you have concentrated urine. And if that is positive, it is unlikely to be wrong, if its negative but you still don’t get a period then just go to the dr. I’m sure the not knowing is nerve wracking!

    @DrTeeth:  Yeah they can make a difference. I actually knew a bee on the TTC boards who got a false positive from a dollar store cheapie last month, I believe. I’d say go get a FRER (First Response) and try that with FMU (first morning urine). Good luck again!

    @DrTeeth:  Looks positive.  You should test with your morning pee, it’s the most concentrated usually.  If your still not getting your period and that’s still negative, would definitely get the blood test.

    @MrsHovzilla:  I agree.

    It looks like a +, but I’d get a “fancy brand” test and use it in the AM with FMU.  That would help set my mind at ease if I were you (and like you, I’d still be iffy due to all the water before the Dr test). Good luck!

    @DrTeeth:  you’re pregnant. Buy all means test with FMU and a FRER in the morning, but I’m sure it will be positive. Congratulations!

    @DrTeeth:  Not TTC, but I read way too much – I’ve heard of *very rare* cases where it can take a while for a blood test to show a positive / measurable HCG. Sometimes it’s due to testing too early. However, it’s super rare, so I wouldn’t bank on a negative blood test in 2 weeks being a false negative.
