I have been looking for Save the Date Cards recently, and I really don’t think that I need them. And besides they would get expensive to order. Are they a neccessity or should I do without them? What do you other bee’s think?

Totally not necessary, unless you’re having a Destination Wedding and people will need a lot of time to plan. I got some for the heck of it from VistaPrint when they had a deal for 100 free postcards. The whole shebang only cost about $50.

@pinkinlove87: No one does save the dates in my area so we’re not doing them to save money (: plus I think a lot of our guests wouldn’t have heard of them and would be confused by the lack of traditional invitation information.

i did some only because we are having a wedding between 2 main holidays, the main amount of guests live in 2 cities that are roughly 75 miles apart- besides the few people that live out of state!
I went the affordable way, waited until staples was having a sale on postcards and made them there, actaully with a coupon i had i got all 100 of them free!
if you are having a all local wedding and most peole are aware of the day, then i dont think you HAVE to have them.

They are not a necessity, so if you don’t feel like you need them and don’t have the money for them, don’t worry!

Definitely not necessary. If there are certain people who are traveling far or need more notice to save the date, just let them know, but if you don’t think you need them you can definitely go without.

They are not required and many people actually don’t use them. They are a nice gesture if you can afford them, to give people enough time to schedule vacation (some businesses require 6-12 months advance notice), etc.

Not a necessity at all! I sent out mine and a lot of people are confused that they are getting another invitaiton, since they already have one (the STD)

not necessary…. We did a holiday letter/save the date….. It was fun, we sent it out at the end of Novemeber, (our wedding is the end of Apirl) we were able to update everbody about our lives and let them know to save the date, we also printed out a christmas card picture at Target and mailed both together! It cost us $30 for letter and picture and they came out so well! it was something different and fun!
You dont have to do anything, or come up with an alternative, no need to spend lots of $ on a save the date
