So our wedding will be a very intimate affair consisting of about 50-60 people, mostly family and closest of friends. Very few or none are out of state. Is it necessary to even send save the date cards out??? I’d love to hear what you guys think.

It’s probably not necessary if you don’t have many out of town guests, unless it’s on a holiday weekend.
However, you can still send them out if you want! There’s no reason not to, but you can definitely get by without!

Or if more of your guests are local, as you say, perhaps think of a save the date evite. A friend of mine just did that for her July wedding. 60 people, most local. And it worked! Plus it’s also fun to read what people post when they reply. Just a thought.

I don’t think for your intimate wedding that you’ll need Save the Dates. We didn’t do them and we have about 20 out of town guests!

Technically Save the Date cards are never necessary. All the people that are special to you and that you need to have at your wedding will definitely know about your big day long before you send out your official invites. However, we did Save the Dates because we wanted to have fun with a design and we wanted to stir up excitement about the wedding! 🙂 If you aren’t interested in them, don’t worry about them. I think most people do them just to have a creative project to work on, not necessarily to confirm all their guests attendance.

I only did them for out of town guests (we have a few overseas invites) and not to our local, as I dont think its really necessary otherwise!

We aren’t doing them as a way to save money. With only 60 poeple, I wouldn’t bother, either. = )
