    Rebellion?!?!

Oh dear.  My dear darling mommy thinks that if I have shoes that are colored it is showing that I am rebelling.... and I don't think so.  I just plain like colored shoes, and always have.

And she doesn't like the excuse that "everyone else is doing it".  I would like to know if anyone else had issues with colored shoes....

Also I would like to wear them again, and not have to worry about white shoe rules... which I follow religiously.

    Help?  What to do.

Why does she think its a sign of rebelling? Its just a fashion preference.

My toes ran into a wall two days before the wedding and so I couldn't wear the strappy sandal I planned to wear so I borrowed my MIL white flats.  Either that or I would have had white shoes decorated with blood stains.

I really think it's just a matter of personal taste. I have a really dramatic style, so I'm going for a pop of color. But either can look amazing! I don't know how to get your mom to see your side, but I think it's commonly seen as personal expression. Quite frankly, most people won't even see your shoes.

If you make them your "something blue" will it appease her? ;)

show her some pics of shoes you like on other brides. maybe she will see how great they look, and maybe she would be ok if you changed for the reception or something.

I'm wearing purple heels.  Just tell your mom it's kind of a "trendy" thing right now and pretty common...has nothing to do with rebelling (at least not in my case).  Plus it's more sensible since you get to wear them again!

I wore ridiculously bright red shoes and got a lot of compliments on them. But, in my case, my parents didn't expect anything different. I always say, the best place to wear bright colors is on your feet!

You should wear whatever you want...It is def. not a sign of rebellion, but a sign that you got style!

Rebellion? Hardly. I'm the least rebellious person I know, and my shoes will NOT be white. ;)

Colored for sure! I don't think it's rebelling, it's just fashion!

Holy crap. In the time it took me to post my response, there were 8 others posted!!!

You could always tell your mom "Okay, I will wear white shoes and a red dress!" haha

I like the idea of colored shoes. It makes it a little more fun!

@Mrs. DG - That made me laugh... out loud.  :)  A real live LOL.

@bvig... OUCH!!  That must have been painful.

@Miss Spaniel- Yes, I agree.  :S same here.

@Luli29 - I love spunky shoes!!!  and most people that know me know that I wear some fun shoes.  When I was a legislative aide for a state senator, he would always ask me what shoes are you wearing today!  :)

@Miss Cola - that is what I am trying to do... I just don't like making peoples feeling hurt or them upset, and since the parents are hefting most of the bill, I don't know where to draw the line.

You can see in my photo (from my cousins 4th of July wedding) that I love shoes.. and they are usually the more popping part of my outfit... that and vintage clipon earrings ( 'cause I have virgin earlobes).

I wore white. I did look for pink shoes but couldn't find any that were the right style, color, and price.

Of course you can do anything you want, but would your mom be more on board if you wore white shoes for the ceremony and colored shoes for the reception?

like others commented, you really barely see them if you have a long dress. i loved having a little pop of color & it matched my bouquet! :)

Unless you have a tea-length or mini skirt dress, your guests won't have a clue what type or color of shoes you are wearing. Even if you expose them during the garter removal/toss, no one will notice, care or even remember what you wore, which shows how important that detail is. It has nothing to do with rebellion.

I'm using this wedding as an excuse to buy a fancy pair of purple shoes! It's one of the things I'm really excited about.
