I’ve fallen in love with the idea of a tent wedding, however I’m concerned that it may be way too hot. Can someone let me know their experiences with this?
my wedding would be in the summer and Im in Toronto where the summers are quite hot!

It depends on what you mean by hot. I have been to several (in North Carolina) that have been miserably hot, but we’re talking 90 out and humid. If there’s no breeze, the tent sort of traps the hot air. If it’s somewhere a bit breezy, it can be nice. There’s obviously no way to predict that. I once went to one that had fans, that was a great idea.

@VallieC: It also depends on what kind of tent you get. I went to a college reunion in NJ earlier this summer — they had vinyl tents, which trapped the heat and humidity (even though the tent had no sidewalls!). For my own wedding, I’m going with sailcloth tents (look up Sperry Tents), which are really cool-looking, weather-resistant, and best of all, they’re breathable!

I’ve been to one in TX and one in PA. Both in the summer and both sweltering hot. The issue was circulation: there was none, as only one side of the tent had been left open. If out of 4 sides, you put the sides up on 2, it would help tremendously.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! The tens I’m looking at would have ceiling fans but as far I know that’s the only form of cooling. I would also try to have the sides open but that would largely depend on the weather!
