No offense to anyone but I find it hard to read the full- figured boards because 9 outta 10 post come across as self loathing. I know we ALL have insecurities and out bad days but how about being positive about our selves and our bodies??I am a big girl too…size 20…and I love me and am comfortable in the skin I’m in. I know I could stand to lose a few, lol, but until that happens I am celebrating and embracing what god gave me
Is anyone else with me???
***btw…all of that ladies on this board that have beat themselves up about how they have looked in their wedding gowns have looked beautiful!!

Preach is sister!!
I’ve got more cushion for the pushin and honestly feel GORGEOUS in my wedding dress!! I wouldn’t change a thing.
Big girls unite! We are big and beautiful and our husbands to be can’t seem to get enough of us so why not just embrace what was given to us?
My motto? More of me to love!!

I’m a 16/18, and I’m right there with you. Those posts make me sad, too. Beauty is not a dress size. You’d think all the pictures of gorgeous brides of all ages, races, shapes, and sizes on this board would prove that.

While I might like to lose weight, and would definitely not mind shopping in the skinny sizes, I do think that all women can be beautiful and confident in who God made them to be. It drives me crazy to see someone belittling people about their size. I know that a lot of it has to do with genetics and metabolism and not all about what you eat. My family has a history of curvy women. It’s our natural shape. My friend who has always been a little very petite person is also the same girl who talked about eating a carton of ice cream… when I was just eating a bowl occasionally and if you had asked anyone they would have switched the amounts that we ate based on our size. I think it’s good to be confident in who you are… that you are lovely because God made you that way!

@tiggles212002: Ohhhh! You look soooo pretty!!!

I love how confident you gals are, and Tiggles212002—you’re beautiful!!!!
Let’s just say I’m not there yet, lol. I know my guy adores my body, but the reason I’m overweight is all ME! God didn’t make me this way and neither did genetics. I’m just an overeater and I don’t exercise at all. About 5 years ago I was at my smallest (180lbs. size 12), and I looked and felt FANTASTIC! I’m capable of getting there again, I just lack the willpower right now. I would much prefer to be that size again rather than where I’m at now.
Can you bees give me any tips on how to start loving my body and feeling more confident? I’ve always suffered from self-esteem issues, and I’m so jealous of some bigger women who have such positive attitudes!

Yay! I am kind of hypocritical because I want women to love their bodies no matter what size they are and feel they shouldn’t deprive themselves of the bridal experience because they are of a larger size. However, I am not always that kind to myself! I am so glad you started this thread, Zalonia!

Tiggles…you look absolutely adorable in your gown…love it!!! I am glad I found some other ladies who fell like me and love their curves!

@zalonia: Hey girl!!! So good to see you still on the Bee! I remember you from the Waiting board (I “graduated” in August). I completely agree with you about the self-loathing that comes across on this board. I can’t honestly claim to really be rocking any particular style but I do try to keep the self-denigrating fat hating talk to a minimum. Every single picture I’ve seen of ladies on this board have been truly beautiful.

@Ms. Pink Scrubs: Hey…glad you remember me…that makes me feel good!! I am still here, I actually love the Bee Boards! Still waiting and we r fighting to make it work. We have our problems and he is not perfect (neither am I) but we are in it for the long haul!!
Congrats on the engagement…I truly am excited for you! Can’t wait till you post your dress!!!

I’m a size 16/18 and I was one of those women that wanted to lose a bunch of weight before I got married (even though my husband fell in love with me exactly how I am). Well, I did lose about 15 pounds, but I was beating myself up about not losing more. I got married yesterday and felt absolutely stunning all night. I got so many compliments on how beautiful I looked and I felt great. I didn’t think about my weight at all. Just get a dress that flatters your figure, rock those curves, and enjoy YOUR DAY!
I will post pics in my dress as soon I get some pictures back!
