Oh…I thought you were asking a different question.

I have absolutely no idea any store would do that! Lol, silly me.

The Costco in my area has a sign stating that the large centre stones on display are CZ. Not sure if it’s like that at every location.

@maggielou52:  Same with my Costco. They’re CZ in the display.

At my Costco, the larger diamond solitaires and larger carat weight rings are CZ, however the diamond bands and smaller center rings, and gemstone rings are real.  I was looking at some recently and would have been able to buy the ring right out of the case.  Instead, I bought one from their web site.

Typically, if the center stone is 1 carat, it is real.  Anything much bigger than 1 ct, you have their diamond buyers find exactly what you want and then they ship a couple to your store for inspection.  This is from my experience about 7 years ago.

Well, the Costco in my area had a $150,000 solitaire in  the display case.

I was looking at the diamond bands, however.

I asked someone to let me try on a couple of of the bands and they had two managers come over to supervise the clerk who opened up the case. So I figured, what the heck, and I asked to try on the $150,000 ring. I figured it’s not every day a girl gets a chance to try on a six-figures piece of jewelry, LOL. I’m sure it was the real thing and not a CZ, otherwise they wouldn’t have had all those bouncers standing around.
