@fuentesbee:  I was married here in July 2011 (I checked into WeddingBee to help a friend find a venue in DC and saw your post!).

We had a small wedding, 62 people total. We held the entire thing in the upstairs Library. We had an open bar for cocktails, beer and wine after dinner started, and we brought in our own cake. The total for food/drink/site fee (which is really low) was less than $8500. My husband and I kept meticulous records of everything!

Let me know if you have more specific questions or want to see photos.

our reception will be here next weekend.  Also a small group of about 75 people.  there are some logistical issues that are popping up last minute which is pretty frustrating, but I really love the space in the library so Im really looking forward to it.  If you’re still interested ill let you know how it goes!

oooh, I’m going to bump this. I didn’t want a wedding and I’ve been bullied into having one but I’m determined to keep it small amd simple. I’m in love with the idea of a restaurant wedding, seems like less work. I’ve got about 50 people, slated for next spring, and I live and work super close to this place! Any experiences?

@MrsKelloggtobee:  congrats on your wedding! How did you like Darlington House? Did all of the kinks work out? Was the original quote close to actual cost? You had your ceremony somewhere but could you see a ceremony taking place there? TIA!

I just had a 60-person engagement party there last month.  It went really well.  I am happy to share more details if you PM me. I don’t know much about costs, though, because my future in-laws hosted.

@QuirkySocialite:  hey! Sorry it took me so long to get back! So yes, the wedding was great,  we actually did the ceremony at a Buddhist center on embassy row, and then headed to the DH for the reception.  it was set up beautifully and everything ran very smoothly.  We paid what we expected, and the food was great, everyone loved it!

a few weeks before the wedding there was a scheduling issue and they were trying to get us out of the space early to have another party afterwards.  I was pissed and kind of concerned, but we finally came to an agreement that they would comp us $1,000 in the circle bar downstairs, and that worked for us and our small party.  Not sure how long it took to go through it because I was smashed by that time lol.  But it was overall a really good experience!

Have you found a place yet?

@MrsKelloggtobee:  I <3 the $1k bar comp-my SO would love that haha. My mom’s kind of holding up the engagement/proposal process and I re-fa-yoooz to book anything until there’s a ring on this finger so I’m still in the researching process. I know it’s totally last minute as I’d like to get married in March but hopefully everyone gets the sense of urgency. I just feel weird going to see/book/reserve/buy anything before I’m actually engaged. I kind of want to do a “walk by” of Darlington House as it’s right by my yoga studio lol I don’t belong to any sort of religious/spiritual institution so I’d want to have my ceremony there so that’s my biggest concern and on their website it doesn’t look possible, logistically. We’ll see though!

Embassy Row is so beautiful! I’m sure your wedding was amazing…what a great idea to hold the ceremy there!

MrsKelloggtobee:  I’m having my wedding reception at Darlington House next May.  Did you feel like it was too crowded with 75 guests?  I’m starting to worry becasue I read that you should always take 10% off what the venue tells you for comfort space-wise.  Also, did you have a dance floor?  Any info you have would be great, thank you!

Bumping this to see if anyone with more recent experience can weigh in? Had dinner here recently and was not impressed with the food. Love the space and the price is right, though. Thanks!
