The FI and I are both having a hard time deciding what he and his mother should be dancing to...

    Any ideas?

We're doing a combined father/daughter mother/son dance at our wedding to "Never Alone" by Lady Antebellum. It's not overly sappy, but still a really sweet song...

    May the angels protect you
    Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when it's time to go home
    May you always have plenty
    Your glass never empty
    Know in your belly
    You're never alone

May your tears come from laughing
    You find friends worth having
    With every year passing
    They mean more than gold
May you win but stay humble
    Smile more than grumble
    And know when you stumble
    You're never alone

    Never alone
    Never alone
I'll be in every beat of your heart
    When you face the unknown
    Wherever you fly
    This isn't goodbye
My love will follow you stay with you
    Baby you're never alone

Well, I have to be honest
As much as I want it
I'm not gonna promise the cold winds won't blow
So when hard times have found you
    And your fear surround you
    Wrap my love around you
    You're never alone

    Never alone
    Never alone
I'll be in every beat of your heart
    When you face the unknown
    Wherever you fly
    This isn't goodbye
My love will follow you stay with you
    Baby you're never alone

    May the angels protect you
    Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when it's time to go home
And when hard times have found you
    And your fear surround you
    Wrap my love around you
    You're never alone

    Never alone
    Never alone
I'll be in every beat of your heart
    When you face the unknown
    Wherever you fly
    This isn't goodbye
My love will follow you stay with you
    Baby you're never alone
My love will follow you stay with you
    Baby you're never alone

We also did a combo dance, to "In My Life" by the Beatles.  I think most songs are at least somewhat cheesy, but I wanted to pick a song that I knew our parents would be familiar with.

I've not really ever heard of anyone doing a combo dance... But that's a good idea! Not sure my FMIL would go for that though. She is all about her "baby boy" prbably wouldn't want to share the dance floor. lol

@UpstateCait:That's actually the song that I have picked for the father/daughter dance. I LOVE the lyrics!

@Mrs.tobe: Actually it seems to be pretty common in my neck of the woods.  We personally did it because I didn't want the dances to go on forever, and it felt a little more comfortable to have more people on the dancefloor.

@Brianalaura: Thats exactly why we're doing the combo. It's actually not popular where I'm from but having been a wedding guest about a dozen times, sitting through tons of specialty dances can get boring quick. My dad is also pretty shy so sharing the spotlight would make him much more comfortable.

@UpstateCait: Yeah it ended up great for both of those reasons!  Good luck on your big day, the lyrics to the song you picked sound great.

@Brianalaura:Well it's got my vote! It's not that popular in my neck of the woods either, but maybe we'll be the beginning of a new trend!

I recently went to a wedding where 'Bridge over troubled water' by Simon and Garfunkel was the mother/son dance, I thought it was lovely!

We did a combo parent dance to "Sunshine of My Life" by Stevie Wonder. It's a fun, upbeat song. My dad likes to boogie!

You Are The Sunshine Of My Life

That's Why I'll Always Stay Around

You Are The Apple Of My Eye

Forever You'll Stay In My Heart

I Feel Like This Is The Beginning

Though I've Loved You For A Million Years

And If I Thought Our Love Was Ending

I'd Find Myself Drowning In My Own Tears

You Are The Sunshine Of My Life

That's Why I'll Always Stay Around

You Are The Apple Of My Eye

Forever You'll Stay In My Heart

You Must Have Known That I Was Lonely

Because You Came To My Rescue

And I Know That This Must Be Heaven

How Could So Much Love Be Inside Of You

You Are The Sunshine Of My Life

That's Why I'll Always Stay Around

You Are The Apple Of My Eye

Forever You'll Stay In My Heart

You Are The Sunshine Of My Life
