Similar situation…I loved the name Lily but his ex gf had a daughter named Lily so now it’s ruined for me.  I really loved that name though but now I just think of that and I don’t want it.

I used to love Alexander until I worked with an annoying Alex.  Now I don’t like it.

I hate hearing the name of one of my ex’s who was a real jerk.

Any name of an ex automatically makes me cringe.  Thankfully, I don’t have many of them, and neither does my husband.

Also, the name Connor makes me want to throw up in my mouth.  I was a cashier in college, and every Saturday this woman and her out-of-control child named Connor would always go through my line.  The kid would be screaming, grabbing at the candy, and just a general nuissance.  Just hearing “Connor, don’t do that..,”  “Connor, sit down..,”  “Connor, stop!” in the woman’s nasaly voice ruined it for me.

I have some names I associate with bad students (teacher bee) so I wouldn’t name my kid after them, but I don’t think there are any names I would cringe about really…even if they were named after someone I hate. I also wouldn’t name my kid after either mine or DH’s ex’s even if the name was awesome.

I hate hearing the name Sarah. That was DH’s ex-FI’s name.

At least it’s only her middle name.

I can’t stand the name of the girl that grew up across the street from me.  I can’t even say it normally I have to whinnnnnne it out, like her mom did.

Stephanie. I’ve had interactions with three different girls/women named Stephanie who absolutely hated me. I have no idea why, but I seem to just not be able to get along with Stephanies! lol. I suppose I wouldn’t cringe if I had a niece named Stephanie, but I would be really disappointed.

@MrsEdamame:  Same name for me! SO’s ex girlfriend of 5 years is Stephanie. Although, I’ve never cared for the name itself and have always had bad experiences with Stephanie’s, that was the icing on the cake for me.

oh ugh…. well give her a few months with the name, and you will stop associating it with the bad meaning.

The longer you know the baby and the more you see the baby, the more “Tilda Higglesworth” will be “her name” instead of “your friend’s name”!

@Cory_loves_this_girl:  +100000 Every guy I have ever dated had dated a chick named Sarah before me! HATE that name.

Any of these new names with made up spelling.  They really kill me.  The fact that your mom named you Madisyn instead of Madison does not separate you from the other 12 Madisons in your class.
