I'm another CT bride. Don't worry Kamazing, you're not alone. This is actually going to be my first post.
Wedding Date: 4/21/12
Location: Orange, CT
In need of affordable florist and photographer. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Is Stew Leonards affordable? I'm at the point where if there cheap I want them. Who knew flowers were so expensive! My wedding was moved up so I'm it's been a little hectic.
Also if anyone knows of affordable limos too, that would be great. Thanks.
Hi fellow CT bees! I'm getting married in Ct on August 4, 2012.
Our photographer is Red Caramel Photography, out of Danbury Ct. They are the NICEST people ever and we felt so comfortable with them. It is a husband and wife team. Also are very reasonably priced! Ask for Cecelia and tell her Myra, her August 4 bride, sent you!
Our florist is Stylish Blooms out of Bristol, Ct. Before I met her I was in florist HELL. I had met with 5 other florists, and some gave me outrageous quotes ($5000!), some just never bothered getting back to me, and one I was going to sign up with and wouldn't include the details of the floral designs in her contract (uhm, I can't sign a contract saying I agree to pay you XYZ if it doesn't state what I'm agreeing to pay for!). As soon as I met with Stylish Blooms I knew I was in good hands. She not only gave me the lowerst price, but she also has rave reviews! Pics I've seen of her work are stunning and she's been very prompt in responding to all my questions. Ask for Melissa and tell her Myra, her August 4 bride, sent you!

I feel that there aren't any CT brides out there either! I have searched the internet for CT blogs, but to no avail. Good to know that there are others out there.
@LaurenSeiter: I am also getting married in Orange, CT. Crazy! Did you grow up there? Or just live there now? Any advice for a bride getting married there?
@MissCT: O my goodness! That's so exciting. No, I'm from Brookfield (Danbury area) but my fiance is stantioned at the Air National Guard base in Orange so we're very familier with the area. Plus we needed an easy location for his side of the family. They're all coming from Long Island so this way it's just right off 95 or the Merritt, easy peasy. Do you have your venue yet? If not I know a great place. :)
@LaurenSeiter: That is so cool about your fiance. When is your date? We are also both Newbees! Are you liking wedding bee so far? I am thinking that I am going to be doing either my moms's backyard or my grandparent's backyard (both in Orange). But I am completely open to venues. Where are you having yours? I still can't get over that there are two Orange brides here. It's so small to me, though I guess it is a much bigger place now. My grandparents still live in the house that my mom grew up in and I was raised right down the road, so Orange is a special place to me.
@Kamazing: I'm a new CT bride! Though I'm actually from NYC but I'm happy to give any insight from my experiences so far :)
@MissCT: I'm getting married April 21st, 2012! I am so excited!! Yes we are newbees, LOL, I like the weddingbee so far. I think it's been really helpful with the little things. Like I've been getting a lot of information on florists and transportaion from the site and the ladies have been most helpful with tips and with giving any information they have. That is so nice about your grandparents house. I like little touches that make it personal and special to you. It sounds like it's going to be a beautiful and meaningful wedding with special locations like that.
I'm having mine at the RaceBrook Country Club, right off 34. They have been just so lovely. I know, I can't believe we're both Orange brides! That's so funny, small world.

New Haven bride! Where are other New Haven brides getting married? I'm at NHLC, which I fell in love with because its so elegant. Originally I thought I wanted to get married in New York city, but now I am really glad to be in NH because it's so much less overwhelming to plan a wedding in a smaller city.
I'm new here! I'm getting married at The Gershon Fox Room in Hartford. I was also looking at Bank Street Events in Stamford. Has anyone else heard of them?

I'll tell you about my CT wedding plans so far, hopefully they are helpful for you, considering I found a lot of really good deals. I am also looking for some tips too, posted at the end.
Wedding date: July 19,2012
Venue: Anthony's Ocean View, New Haven CT. only $6,500 for 5.5 hrs, 2-3 open bars, food, cake, chair covers and bows & ceremony included! (half off thursdays!)
Phototography: Bella Pictures, 6 hrs for only $1,100! I caught a sale in June
DJ: Jock in the Box, Todd Powers. He is hysterical! I really hesisated booking a dj, i just didnt feel the connection, but when i met him, i knew right away! 5.5 hrs, only @1,200
Gown(s): Main Gown: Maggie Sottero, Merielle, size 12 in pearl, It's brand new out of the fall 2012 collection. $1,450. I am IN LOVE. I bought the matching veil as well, $350. Bought it at Bridal Troussous on Main in Branford, worked with Tim, hes amazing. I will be reselling this gown as soon as the wedding is over.
End of the night gown: Sottero & Midgley Adorae size 12 Ivory. Im going to have it bubble hemmed at the knee, so I can kick back and dance a little easier Still looking to find a good used deal! hopefully around $550. Will be reselling after wedding
Bridal Party/Groomsmen: David's Bridal/ Men's Wearhouse. Guava dresses, Groom in white tux, groomsmen in Gray tuxes with guava vests & ties.
Theme: Beach
Colors: Guava, Silver with Gold lining. Looking for used decor for sale.
Hair/Make Up: JoBella Salon, in the Omni Hotel, Christie Garafalo is AMAZING
Honeymoon: 2 weeks in Punta Cana, DR. all inclusive, no kids, beautiful beach, free added honeymoon package. total cost for both the groom and myself is only $7,000. Booked thru AAA, they will match or beat any travel agencies price, and their trip insurance is cheaper. They have travel guides for everyehere in the world.
I am Looking for somewhere in CT that has wooden boards, need a total of about 45 feet long, by 4-5 feet wide, to go under a white runner so I don't fall on my face on the beach walking down the isle!
Also, trying to figure out where to have the bachlorette party, thought about casino, sports complex, New Haven bars.. can't decide, what are you doing?

@TripleDiamond: I LIVE IN BRANFORD!! woohoo! So exciting!! Does Jobella do airbrush makeup? I am searching for a salon the girls and I can go to rather than have someone come to the hotel, but I didn't know if they did that.
i asked Christie @jobella she said they don't. I think I have a friend who does though, she travels to events. If that's something you want more info on I can get you her contact info.
@TripleDiamond: I am looking to try and find a salon that will do it rather than traveling to me. I think it's less common. Thanks though!!
