I am seeking advice for my aunt who I feel has got a MAJOR infection post breast reduction surgery. (1 week ago) She has been to walk in clinic, emergency room who both advised her to seek immediate care with her surgeon. She did, and the surgeon feel it looks ok aand advised her to keep using polysporin on the incisions.. I think this has the potential to turn to gangrene. Any suggestions.
I have photos, they are awful so I am hesitant to post them. PM if you care to see to truly understand the extent.

@Misshotsauce: I’m not a plastic surgeon, however, I had a family member get a horrific MRSA infection that required two surgeries, a wound vac, and a year later, they’re still struggling to fully heal the area where the infection was.
Your aunt needs to see a doctor, ASAP. Emergency room docs have a lot on their plate and they may not have fully taken in what’s going on, not to meniton infection can worsen rapidly and dramatically.
Her surgeon is probably more worried about a law suit, than your aunt’s health. If she has a regular doctor, call first thing tomorrow, insist it’s an emergency and get her into see them any time they can possibly squeeze her in. Otherwise, go to a different emergency room. Infections can get very bad, very quickly and I’m concerned that she’s not being treated with an oral antibiotic. A topical one doesn’t sound sufficient.
This is not a time to be polite and wait to see what happens. You need to be vocal and get a professional to pay attention. It can save a life.

I’m not a surgeon either, however i have had a breast reduction and I’m not sure that a good surgeon would just say “put ontiment on it”. If is something like PP said, MRSA, your aunt has big problems. Chances are, if they look bad enough for you to think that there is the potential for gangerne then you have to keep trying and get someone to listen. Check with her primary tomorrow like pp said.
