We have booked our engagement session with our photographer and are working with picking out what we are going to wear. We are going to be doing an elopement with a formal dinner when we get back. I found some amazing photos from an engagement shoot and am beyond in love.
Here’s the link
Is it inappropriate to wear a longer, flowing gown for the engagement photos? We would do some less formal ones with a cute cocktail dress and jeans too. Should I hold out on the long dress just for the elopement and recpetion, would be different dress and in a non white color for the engagement shoot.

wear whatever you want. i’ve seen super formal e-pics, and i’ve seen super casual ones too. it’s all in how you’re comfortable, or what you want to portray.
when we did ours, we were casual. i was in jeans and a cute top, FI was in jeans and a button up shirt. and for a couple, he was in a red sox baseball hat and i was in a red sox sweatshirt. it was cute. we were comfortable.

@minted: Her dress makes me think it’s a casual wedding. Wear whatever you want though, you’re the one that will be looking at the pictures!

Either match the venue for example if the place is vintage wear vintage style Or if its a park or natural environment just look like yourself.

For a second there I thought you booked Jose Villa and I almost died haha. I love it when people wear two outfits. A casual, hip look and then a softer more formal look. You could get the same feel with a little less formality with a beachy, flowy maxy dress. No rules. It’s all up to you! Also consider that Jose Villa is a master of making soft look right. He is pretty much the most ” recognized” wedding photographer on earth. His wedding fee is about the cost of an average wedding so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get these results!:)
