I was just sitting here watching the Bee Movie and it got me wondering... what do you do when you see a bug?

    I either:

    1)  Scream like a little girl and make FI take it outside without killing it

    2)  If it's in the sink, I'll wash it away because most of the time it's a silverfish, which creeps me out.

I only kill very large spiders that might be dangerous. Other than that, if they don't gross me out I don't mind their presence and if they do gross me out I'm too afraid to go near them :/.

I don't have the heart to kill bugs no matter how much I dislike them. i will cover them with a cup, put a piece of paper under the cup and carry them outside, and "free" them. I feel horrible even when I accidentally step on a bug. I'll apologize to the dead bug and ask God for forgiveness, and hope they didn't have a 'bug family'. i know it's silly, it's OK to laugh at me. I watch too many Disney movies.

I kill them all unless it's a lady bug :)  I take lady bugs outside and release them, since they don't bite.

Depends on what kind of bug and how big. I hate cockroaches because they can survive anything (like the huge extinction that killed everything else) and are way better than humans so I'm naturally scared of them; however- bugs like beetles, flies, bees, and even spiders I scoop up and place them outside.

Depends on the bug. Fleas are dealt with using  FleaRx House treatment and beneficial nematodes for the yard. Stink bugs will die in the dish water or commode. Asian lady bugs are vacuumed. We use fly paper for flies. Avoiding scented body and hair care products, taking MSM, B-complex and garlic tablets keep the mosquitoes from biting me.

Beneficial bugs (that eat other bugs) are carefully transported to the garden. Spiders are welcomed as long as they are not huge - huge ones are carried outside. Bees are carefully transported outside. They are important pollinators and their numbers are dwindling.

However, anything that bits or stings me will die a swift and immediate death. It;s a reflex thing.

Other... I get someone else to kill them for me, especially if they're inside. I was rushing to work and saw an enormous spider in my car. Since no roommates were home, I had to kill it myself. Gah!! :(

Lately, I've been killing little spiders outside while I'm walking my dog so they don't get near my house. Baha!

@SandAndSea: Haha that made me smile.

I'll kill ants and tiny spiders (by tiny, I mean the size of my pinky nail).  Oh and VERY VERY small beetles.  The rest are up to FI and if he's not home I put a cup over them so they can't escape before they're killed.  Muwahahaha!

I would kill them if I wasn't terrified of them! Sometimes I might feel bad, but they're scary, so I would more likely scream and make FI take care of it.

I had a roommate in college who would spray hair spray at it until it got stuck, which killed it.  I felt bad about that, cause it was more like torture than just squishing it with a shoe or something. =/  Unless it was a spider, those things are evil.

I have to kill any and all spiders near my SO- hes really scared/hates them that much. I have saved a few but he thinks they are horrible creatures...I actually think they are harmless and keep the really annoying bugs (hello Mosiqutos!) out of our hair- otherwise I do kill other bugs, but mostly I rather just let nature (and the spiders) do their jobs :)

Unless it's a mosquito and it's biting me I don't kill any bugs...or anything else living for that matter. I'm a softie.

@mrsawesome09: spiders get rid of other more vicious bugs! They can be friendly- such misunderstood creatures! :P

Am I the only person who has held a tarantula? they are perfectly harmless! The SO would agree with you tho :P

If possible, I really do try to leave them alone. However spiders/centipedes I cannot handle and I have been known to get out the rolled newspaper if one is in the bathtub or my bedroom. Sorry, just can't handle them. Flying creatures in the house I also have my husband deal with, or I scream and hide.

I would never kill a bug outdoors, that's their turf.

If they are indoors, I kill them. If they are outdoors, why would I bother? Live and let live. If the indoor one can feasibly be shooed outside, I try that first. But ladybugs (and sometimes ants) attack in hoardes so they get vacuumed up.

There is one bug to which none of the above applies -- moths. I can't handle them. FI needs to come and save me from them, or if I am alone, I will hunt it down until I kill it. I can't return to whatever else I was doing until I know it's gone. I may have had one dive bomb my face while half asleep once and scare the snot out of me. It's not logical, but I hate hate hate them because of it.

I'm a selective bug killer.  I usually just pick them up and take them outside, but if I see a silverfish, I squash em.

Depends...if its a crawling bug I would kill it. A big flying one (like a cockroach) is another story. I scream and I'm outta there. I can handle a crawling cockroach but not a flying one for some reason. I got one caught in my hair once and nearly died on the spot.

I hate bugs. I don't do anything with them myself - apart from try and shoo them out windows/doors if they're the flying kind. But spiders and cockroaches, I CANNOT KILL. I freeze up, it's ridiculous.

@jaguar: aww its ok. I used to be like that too, until I lived on my own with mice (that kinda desensitizes you).  Hmm....SO and I went to science world in Van City and they had this exhibit on bugs...I pet a madagascar hissing cockroach, and said it was cute (everyone in the auditorium heard me and laughed lol)- but I say that only because Im pretty sure the thing was a sleep or something. SO refused to go near them.

Yeah, Im a bit odd :P

@Bellanouva: You know, I don't mind mice at ALL. I can handle them. We used to have to use those humane ones all the time - just catch them in the carrier and take them to the local park. But ugh... bugs? Nah. Can't do it.

@jaguar: then you are a better person than I! I cant stand mice- I think it was the fact that they kept running into my feel and doing all sorts of crazy jumping under my bed...it made ma paranoid for months!

bugs are smaller, which I think helps alot lol. Mice, not so much (and they are a hell of a lot harder to catch!)-annoying evil furballs!

btw (mini thread jack) I got some great news on the ring/wedding front not to long ago! I know you wanted to hear about the ring a while back so I thought I would give you a heads up!

ok, back to our scheduled programing!

I scream and panic and make SO deal with it. Unless I'm home alone, which was the case the other night, when:

    a) I walked into my bathroom after just having been in there a few minutes ago and noticed a GIGANTIC house centipede all squashed on the floor right where I was standing the first time, which hadn't been there earlier in the day. I must have walked right onto it without even seeing it. THANK GOODNESS I was wearing shoes...;afj;alskjfkjf aaaaah I still want to die just thinking about it. I threw a thick paper towel over it so I don't have to look at it...SO can clean it up next time he's here :)

    b) A couple hours later I saw ANOTHER ONE CRAWL UNDER MY BED just as I was about to turn in for the night. So I got the vacuum all prepped and ready, took my mattress off the bedframe so I could see an aerial view of everything under my bed, and didn't see the bug. But I had my yoga mat rolled up under there and I was positive that's where it went. So I grabbed a yardstick and pushed my yoga mat all the way out to the door, intending to just push it onto the porch and deal with it in the morning...JUST as I got to the door the damn thing crawled out at a million miles per hour and I couldn't run to get the vacuum in time to get it. So now it's probably still lurking in my house somewhere....uggggggh.

After all this I literally sat in the dead center of my bed with my legs and arms curled in as close as they could get and bawled uncontrollably for half an hour. Even just the thought of those damn things makes me want to tear my skin off, and here I freaking stepped on one and almost touched another. D: D: D:

@cyndistar3: If they're in my house, they are toast! Outside I will only kill them if they have decided to crawl or land on me. I dislike bugs. The only things I won't try to kill is bees . . . I'll run from them in a heartbeat!

I used to always set them free outside, but I am trapped in an apartment and have no outdoor access (SO sad) so I actually have my dog eat them.  It is her hobby.  (She is a bird dog, so she loves to "hunt" things that crawl or fly).

@Bellanouva: I agree, spiders are helpful.  If there's one outside I'll completely leave it be and let it do it's thing.  But God help one that's near me, lol.  I'd be fine if FI took it outside, but as long as it's away from me, I'm fine.

You really had a tarantula? Ugh, makes me itchy just thinking about it!

I usually have no problem with bugs as long as they are outside. Once they get in my house though, they are dead. Depending on what kind of bug it is.

I'm completely terrified of spiders and roaches. My method for killing those is either get FH to do it if he's here, smash the crap out of it with my shoe or drown it in Raid.

Just to show you how ridiculous I am with bugs, I was getting ready to take a shower this morning and I found a spider in my shower. I sprayed it with Raid and showered in the guest bathroom. Yes, the spider is still in my shower. FH will be dealing with it when he gets here Wednesday. Yes, I am THAT bad.

I did kill a roach a few minutes ago and I flushed it down the toilet.

I'm about to start putting out poison. It's summer and I'm surrounded by trees, so I'll be getting all kinds of insects in my house in the near future. Grody.

It depends on the bug and where it is at. If it is a spider, no matter where, its dead! I make someone else do it though, or use a really long stick or something, because I am deathly afraid!

I chose "other" because if it's a big and juicy bug I can't squish it, it creeps me out.  But it's a a little one I have no problem.  But only in the house.  I don't kill bugs outside (on purpose).  Although, I've had a stink bug on my ceiling since the summer, I call him Greg.  He doesn't bother me, I don't bother him.

I only kill bugs when they are inside the house. I generally bring ladybugs and lightning bugs outside, and don't care to kill bugs that are outside...After all, that's where they live! I will say, however, that spiders and moths are my fiance's problem. When I see a spider in the house I basically freeze-up and cry, and I duck and cover when a moth lurks in my home. Centipedes bother me as well. YUCK!

I have no problem with *most* bug outside. Except earwigs and spiders, the first skeeves me out and I just hate, hate, hate spides. Inside, I'll let the really small ones go in most cases, and make FH kill spiders, bees, wasps, etc. If he's at work I'll maybe kill themself- or go hide in another room until he's home. If it's at my apartment, one of my roommates will kill it. I've been known to hide in my closet when a spider took up residence in the fan above my bed.
