Random, I know…
Random, I know…
After years of musical theatre, I can handle my own with enough practice and a xanex. 🙂
No. I can generally relax once I’m up there and definitely relax more if I feel more confident on my knowledge of the subject but overall I’m not. I get sick to my stomach and get tons of anxiety.
I used to think I was. Musicals, singing, and topics I am passionate about and/or very knowledgeable, yes.
I did a presentation senior year that the professor said, ‘wow, that’s ready to go on the road, I can tell you’ve given this before.’ Ummm, no. that was the first time I’d done it. I just choice a topic that I have strong opinions on and knew what I was talking about.
Sometimes though (especially for work) I feel like I get up there and mindlessly ramble :-/
I never thought I would be (hated it during my undergrad), but I eventually got over it and became a prof! I’ve also MC’d 3 weddings, so I will say that yes, I am a good pulic speaker, lol.
I think it’s a good question and something that i have been thinking about. I think i am. I have to speak in front of large groups often for work and even have no problem ‘winging it’ when it comes to public speaking.
But i am a crier … so it could go either way on the wedding day.
I hate it and would do anything not to but apprently do fairly well. I was a communications major so I spent four years doing speeches and presentations etc.
When I see myself on camera afterwards it always sounds great. When I’m actually giving it I feel like everyone can see how much I’m shaking but it’s totally not noticable. I was vice president of a club in high school and took a public speaking class which helped.
I’m a lot better when I really know my subject matter. If it’s the first time I’m giving a presentation, I get a little nervous. This week, I have been giving presentations at work. 9 total. The same presentation each time. I feel pretty confident that tomorrow morning (#9) will be pretty okay 🙂
Umm…no. I am super shy. I can’t even talk to people on the phone (to pay bills, order pizza, etc) without a little anxiety 🙁 One of my not so strong attributes.
I’m a teacher, so I am talking and putting on a show all day long for my 10th graders..I truly enjoy public speaking…and my job!
Yup, no issues with it. I am used to speaking to lots of crowds in politics.
I love to talk and love having a captive audience.
I don’t love doing it, but I’ve had a lot of practice, so I’m not nervous about it anymore.
If I practice like crazy, I’m actually pretty good. So I can’t do improv. As long as I have enought time to prepare, I’m good. I don’t like doing it and it makes me nervous but I get through it.
