I just wondered how many bees are huggers (you know, friends, family, etc) & how many do not like much physical contact? (except with SO of course :)

I am definately not a hugger. I never have been. My mom said that when I was little & she would try to hold me for very long, I wanted DOWN.

Years ago, when my best friend was in the military & she came back to the states on leave (I hadn't seen her for almost 2 years), SHE had to be the one to hug ME lol. I'm just not that way. When someone hugs me, I don't push them away or anything, but it kinda freaks me out O_o

    Anyhoo, just curious :P

I think I'm a hugger, but it depends with who. I don't go up to random people to hug them, lol!

Mrs. Mouse is not a hugger.  I threaten her with hugs to terrorize her.  :)

I'm not a hugger, I get really nervous. Sometimes I have to hug people, and I neuroticize over it all the time when I know it's coming. I have personal space issues, though I have no problem invading Mr. Scissors' personal space. :p

I'm not a hugger at all. It is actually running joke in my touchy-feely theatre dept. "Oh, I'd hug you if you liked it!"

It really depends on who it is. My mom, DH, yes, okay with hugs. Even some of my closest friends (hello or goodbye kind of stuff if i'm not gonna see them for awhile) but usually i hate space invasion. Except of course with DH. I invade his bubble all the time

I used to never be a 'hugger', but I am starting to try and hug people more often.  My family avoids physical contact at all costs, but FI's family is all about the hugs, I probably get six hugs in the course of a 2 hour dinner with them!  At first I was like, well this is weird...but now I think it is just another way of saying, 'i love you and you're special to me' so I try and bring the hufest to my family, who generally freeze up until I let go!

I'm comfortable hugging people like cousins, aunts and uncles, and church family members. But I'm not a touchy-feely person at all. The other person has to initiate the hug. My friends and I hardly hug, and I freak out if my sisters try to play with my hair or cling on to me. I need mah space!

I'm actually a pretty big hugger.  My family are all huggers--we're huggy/kissy folks.  Maybe it's cuz I'm Italian?  I think it was kind of a shocker for The Hubs when he hung out with my family because he's not big on it.  In my family, you hug and kiss everyone when you arrive at their house/party, etc/ and then do it all again on the way out.  It's just how we roll.

depends on who it is. hubby i hug all the time, my siblings and mother nope, doesnt happen. my sisters children (who are all adults now)  not so much, they are older now and less emotional but my brothers children (who are teens) never finish a phone call without saying i love you so we hug all the time.

I am totally for hugs, but I don't like random people hugging me. I dont really even like to be touch at all by people. I'm just weird about it.

Except kids. I will hug the crap out of little kids.

I"m definitely a hugger. Especially after a drink or two...then I get really snuggly with my friends and FI! They call me the "cuddle bunny".

I like to hug people I like.  I hate it when there is a party where I have to hug everyone that walks in the door.  I'd prefer to be more selective.  My family always hugs though.

not a hugger. Don't like hugs or other closeness except with Mr. Joe (and he mentioned once how he thought it was cute that I never turn down a hug from him lol Anytime he puts his arms out for a hug, I'm there he said). I'd rather not hug my family or anyone though. Just wasn't brought up in a touchy feely family. I don't flip out or act like a snob if someone does or anything, but I'm not going to make that first move and I feel slightly awkward while hugging others.

omw yes yes yes yes. I love hugs. accidental touching (like being bumped into or havings someone brush against you, even when you know them) drives me CRAZY though. I want intentional or not at all haha.

I'm super awkward when it comes to hugs. I over think, over analyze, am always convinced that the recipient of a hug would feel it was awkward.... so I NEVER give hugs. I receive them, and I have no problem hugging anybody who initiates... but its a rare day that I initiate a hug with anybody out of my immediate family or SO. Ps- I'm the same when it comes to "I love you's". Again, not with family or SO, but friends? Nuh uh. Never happens. Its like that awkwardness when you don't know what to call somebody's parents? That's how I am about saying I love you to non-family members. I'd rather just avoid, lol.

i'm a hugger but it also depends on who is the target of said hugs. there are some people i like to keep the physical contact down to a bare minimum

I'm not a hugger at all... I never know when to give them or not. I don't mind when people hug me (it's not like I'm afraid to be touched or anything), but I never initiate hugs.

OMG I am TOTALLY a hugger. Seriously, my poor coworkers. I "snuggle" on my manager's shoulder.... mostly cause it's funny cause she's way shorter than me.

I love hugs from the right people. If someone who I don't know well tries to hug me, I feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, I love hugs from people I care about; sometimes all you need is a good hug.

yep yep!!  When I have heard about someone for a long time, and I meet them, I am like "oh hey!!! "  (((hug)))  :)

Except for when my brothers try to hug me all the time... (they are younger than me, and preparing to 'let me go')....I am pretty open to all hugs.

Touch is my top "love language", so it's not surprising that I'm a total hugger!
