Not that I’m a reckless or unsafe driver but when I have my 6 month old granddaughter in the car with me, I’m hyper cautious.
I care for her every morning and take her to my DIL’s mom in the afternoon. Everytime I put her in the car I check and re-check the car seat. I do all that I can to keep her safe but it’s other drivers I get paranoid of. If I see someone quickly changing lanes or speeding I ease up on the gas and think to myself “Stay away from me, stay away from me”. I know accidents can happen in a flash and even if I have my imaginary protective bubble wrapped around my car I will always keep a safe distance away from anything that might cause her possible harm.
I’d like to ask my fellow bee’s… Are you a more cautious driver when your children (or grand children) are in the car?

No I’m not really more cautious when my child is in the car – I’m already very cautious, because someone else’s kids are in their cars.

No, I’m equally as cautious, but I definitely swear more when he’s not in the car!! Although, come to think of it, I won’t drive after a single drink when I’m driving my kid, not because I think I’m dangerous, but because I’m worried about being charged with child endangerment. I will drive myself after only one drink as long as I wait ample time afterwards before starting the car.

When my nieces have been in my car with me, I am WAY more cautious. Like I completely stop at stop signs, and drive at the speed limit.

Since my kids are ALWAYS in the car, I guess I’m always cautious! Haha. I’m a chicken and always drive the speed limit, always stop at stop signs, always slow down when the light turns yellow…
I think I’m pretty cautious when my kids aren’t in the car too. If something were to happen to me, like a bad accident, my kids would still suffer 🙁 Anything could happen in an instant!
But we’re all safe so its good 🙂

Don’t have my own children yet, but I know when I have my nieces and nephew in the car, I am a lot more cautious with them.

I’m always a cautious driver, so not too much more. I’m a very defensive driver. My husband, not so much lol. If it’s raining super hard, I am more likely to slow down and be safer if she’s with me, though.
