I think most people are probably snobs about something, so what are you a snob about?

I'm a food snob and a dog snob.

I think I am a snob about common sense - really anything I would consider to be common sense that some people are just oblivious to it seems.  I don't understand it!  Hahaha...does that even make sense??  It does to me, I guess!  :)

    Food!

And I'm kind of a health nut, so while I don't judge people on their physical condition, I must admit I do judge those who don't do any kind of sports/physical activity whatsoever - I just don't understand it!

Film and animation, art in general. I went to art school and even at work (where we make animated movies) I get the "oh jeez Arenyth, you're such an art school snob" if I have problems with story arcs or the composition of a shot. I never understood it, we were taught these things for a reason, because they work!

I think I'm an academic snob.  Between my husband and I there are 3 doctoral level degrees (me: PhD, him: MD and PhD) and we just think education is so important.  And my PhD is in education, so I study education policy and it basically is my entire life.  So yeah.  Academic snob.

I'm a food snob. I don't think I'm that "snobby" and I think I'm only considered a snob because the absolute crap that most people eat. If most people ate real, decent food, I don't think I would be a snob (I know, that sounds snobby! lol)

I'm a music snob, I'm not a huge fan of top 40, unless it's legitimately good (which is rare).

I'm also a lifestyle and "green" snob, I think it's so asinine when people consume things to be perceived a certain way, or say things like drive a big SUV and use plastic bags and water bottles, just buy material items for the sake of having them,

And I guess also a clothing snob, I can't help but cringe when I see Ed Hardy, Affliction of anything of the like.

I'm a fashion snob. Not that I care about high end fashion, more so people wearing clothing that fits them and looks decently put together. I don't care if every piece of your outfit comes from Goodwill, just make sure it fits properly and is appropriate to the occasion!

I'm also a real food snob. I work part-time with kids and can't stand the junk they get packed in their lunches. After I graduate with my BS in biochemistry this May I'm going back to school to get my BS in nutritional sciences!

Food snob, wine snob, dog snob, beer snob, music snob, urban planning snob... probably too many things. I always say, a snob is someone who chooses to limit their experiences based on their perception of what's acceptable, and in the process cuts themself off from things they just might enjoy - so, I try not to be a snob about much, but sometimes you just can't help it.

I am a travel snob, I have been very blessed to travel extensively and get very frusterated when people say things like why would I spend money to travel to another country when there is so much to do in America. I guess that also makes me a snob of a whole other sort, but that is ok with me!

I will also admit to being a music snob, at work I listen to classical music and everyone makes fun of me!

Ettiquite Snob here.  Totally.  FMIL has already told me that she'll be checking with me before she does anything with this wedding.  That's when I realized I must really be an obvious snob about it.

I'd like to be a music snob, but in the end I just secretly listen to Brittany and pretend I can't stand top 40.

I'm a music snob all the way.  I have a pretty eclectic taste in music, but if I hate a song/band, I will make it known.  I want to have an iPod reception just so I can have total control of the music at my wedding.  If I hear ANY typical wedding songs ("The Electric Slide," "Celebration," "At Last," etc), I might punch someone.

I am also a grammar/spelling/punctuation/proper usage snob.  I absolutely do not understand why some people can't seem to understand the different between their/there/they're, it's/its, your/you're, etc.

Singing snob. Just because you are capable of singing doesn't mean it sounds good. I hate that -- carrying a tune is actually pretty easy, just like anyone can run. Some people can be very skilled at singing and just not have that great of a voice quality. To be fortunate enough to have a pretty voice but harder still to then be able to nuance your selections, that is when one can be called talented.

Also, academic snob. I don't think "C's get degrees" is funny. I sometimes look down on true stupidity. I don't let it affect how I treat people, but inside, I judge.

What makes one a "dog snob"?

I'm a little snobby about food.  I don't like a whole lot of processed foods and I don't like fast food chains.  And I love to make things from scratch or eat places that make clean, authentic, local (even better) foods.

I am a hygeine snob.  I don't understand people who go around with messed up looking teeth (like they never took time to brush or floss), don't have their hair combed nicely, smell funny, and are dressed in dingy clothing.  Even if someone is really poor, you can still afford soap, toothepaste/floss, and deodarant.  Ugh, so snobby!

I try not to be snobby b/c I understand people have circumstances that are out of their and even my control so I try not to judge.

@Amaryllis:As for C's get degrees, last time I checked History isn't the same as Biology--some programs are more difficult than others.

With that said, I do think hygeine is important.  But I'm not going to go out of my way to belittle or think less of someone who isn't wearing the most fasionable attire or who wears the same shirt twice in one week, b/c if I notice that--then I need to get a life!

@JessesGirl: lol me too! It has to be either Charmin or Cottenelle.

I am also a hair and nail polish snob. My hair has to be well taken care of and done (even if I am just running outside to check the mail). I also have an issue with chipped nail polish. If one nail chips, all of the polish has to come off and I must repolish.

"What makes one a "dog snob"?"

I'm definately a snob about what dogs eat. My dogs are on a raw prey-model diet and were previously on a high-quality holistic kibble I got from a speciality natural pet-food store. I cringe when we are visiting someone with our dogs and they pull out the Milk Bones or other treat with yucky ingredients and say "can your dogs have one?". (I'll usually say "yes" to be polite and I figure it's like kids getting candy or junk-food at a birthday party.)

I'm also very "snobbish" about where to get dogs; I'll either go to a shelter/rescue or a very reptuable show-breeder, nothing in between. For breeders, I have very high standards about their practices and what dogs they breed. (Generic health testing, champion show dogs, etc.) There's only a handful of breeders in my whole state I would consider getting a dog of my breed-of-chocie from.

And training! I hate when people don't train their dogs! And I don't like Cesar Millan's training methods; Victoria Stillwell is okay.

Academic and intellectual snob. It was always very easy for me. Straight A's/acceptance into best schools/ MBA at 22/Mensa etc. I am a silent snob though, if I pass judgement on other people's low intellect or ignorance I try not to show it. In fact because I'm so soft spoken and unassuming looking most people usually assume I'm just some cute dumb young girl. I just let them think that.

@nona49: I'd agree with abbyful... dog snob i think means where you think it is appropriate to get a dog from (shelter, rescue, or reputable breeder ONLY), and also how you treat your dog. I think I fit that category. It drives me batshit crazy when people:

    • get dogs from pet stores or backyard breeders
    • breed their own pets (unless they're a reputable breeder)
    • feed their dogs grocery store kibble
    • ignore their dogs
    • don't train their dogs
    • leave their dogs outside
    • etc etc

The last few: dogs are social creatures! They need to be a part of the family. People who get dogs and leave them outside or crated a majority of the time then bitch when they jump on people? don't get dogs!
