I'm watching tv and I see this guy try to grab a rattlesnake by the head and I got completely jeebed out.  Ick.  No way, not if you paid me a million billion dollars.  I don't do snakes.

DH doesn't do anything that bites.  But I'm not afraid of spiders or bugs or dogs or anything else.  Just snakes.  Oh, and iguanas.  Creepers!

I am terrified of large dogs.  I have been bitten several times, so it's an irrationally rational fear.

Ok here is probably the weirdest phobia you will ever hear on this board: FAKE HAIR!

I can't go near a wig, hair extension, or false eyelash without at least cringing and shuddering. If it touches me I will scream at the least, most likely cry. No idea where this phobia came from but I've been this way for as long as I can remember :/

FISH!  And no I'm not talking about dolphins or sharks, just fish.  Looking at them or getting to close to them totally scares me.  Thinking they'll touch me seriously gives me crazy anxiety, lol!

@ScarletBegonia: omg, me too!  i don't like hearing it, seeing it, doing it, even thinking about it, egh!  my episode of food poisoning last year was torturous. =(  but i'm actually a teensy bit less paranoid about it.

    and the dark sometimes.

@heatherkristin: Horror movies are to blame for so many things that creep me out.  Chuckie, clowns, the dark, being abducted by mutants, haha.  Steven King will always be the master of making the strangest thing seem completely terrifying!

This might sound totally lame, but the bugs that creep me out the most are box-elder bugs.  There's just something about them that is absolutely creepy - I think it's the red design on their bodies.  I freak out whenever I see them!  Then again, I'm not a fan of most creepy crawly stuff in general...

For bugs or critters, for me its cockroaches. I lived in florida, and they have Palmetto bugs which are basically giant cockroaches that FRICKIN FLY. I can't even count the amount of times I slept in a different room just because there was a palmetto bug on the ceiling or something. And I don't kill anything, so its this horrible cycle of screaming, shooing it with a plate, covering my head and ducking as it flys by...

One of my biggest fears is attics. If the attic doesn't have a switch outside of it, I just won't go into it. The last time I had to go into an attic I ended up taking all of my lamps with me and putting them on the stairs and slowly trying to brighten the room before i entered. It leads into my other fear...

Zombies. To the point of absurdity really, I want a gun for christmas because I have never been trained to use one and I'm just absolutely sure that the zombie apocalypse is coming and I want to be prepared. I have escape plans, we keep cricket bats nearby for weapons right now. Lucky for me FI feels exactly the same way so I don't feel totally crazy :D

I put other cause getting married is scaring the crap out of me bad! lol. I gotta admit..it's been freaking me out! As far as bugs..which would be number 2 scary on the list right now..there are these bugs that came in my last apt..every year..that neighborhood..ugh. Ok, they were long, red..with hundreds of long red legs on them with long red antennas...they are the CREEPIEST bugs I HAVE EVER seen!!! I can't even find out what they are..I tried googling it a bunch of times. Now that I moved, there are TONS of Wolf Spiders here. And we saw THE BIGGEST spider we had ever seen in my parking lot..I had no idea Wolf Spiders could get that big..but we pull into the driveway..see the space next to us..and we see this GIANT spider. We were like holleeey crap, that's not a spider, right?? It's too big! But sure enough.. the body alone was as big as a silver dollar without the legs..no joke. We thought about killing it..but it was just so massive that we decided we couldn't do it in a safe way. We thought we could try to run it over with the car..then we look, it's not there anymore..so we just fly up to my apt. Wolf Spiders are poisonous and I knew someone who got sent to the ER after a spider bite from one of these and nearly died..so, ya..that passed through my mind when I saw this freggin thing! I hope it's dead now!!!!

I'm afraid of spiders and roaches, as well as most other bugs, just because they look weird. Also, those super huge red/orange and black grasshoppers, I think they're Georgia grasshoppers...Lobsters and crabs are creepy too, lobsters, because they're red. I'll explain in a moment...

@arenyth: I'm right there with you with attics. It's not so much that I'm afraid of some person hiding away and plotting my demise, it's just the fact that things get in there, and they can die. And I would have hated to be at my parent's looking for Christmas decorations and come across a decompsing squirrel or something.

Here's something, I am totally creeped out by animals with bright colors. Lobsters, cow ants, the blue ringed octopus... It just seems unnatural to me.

@kelsgurl: hahaha that's so funny because I LOVED them while I was growing up!  We had tons of them and them and I were totally pals.  I let them crawl all over me and played with them and protected their eggs.  I thought they were fascinating.  I bet this gives you the heebie jeebies. :P

No animals really scare me, but what IMMEDIATELY gets me freaking out and anxious and feeling faint is blood, especially blood drawn by needles.  And needles in general.  Can't think about it, hear about, or definitely not SEE IT without feeling lightheaded and really squeamish. I pass out every time I have blood drawn.  Without fail.  Same thing goes for seeing intravenous drug use on TV, or looking at an IV drip on someone else, or anything that goes into veins with a needle.   Oh god, I am really getting upset thinking about all this now.

@veganglam: haha yep, literally squirming over here.  I have no idea where the fear came from!  But they make this really loud noise when they fly toward you, and they come out of nowhere, and...idk.  They just freak me out!

And I'm not a fan of blood or needles either.  I would make a terrible nurse, because I have to look away from them - whether it's in person, or on tv!

I am afraid of centipedes and millipedes. My other phobias are really, really embarassing. I am afraid of the movie version of Lord Voldemort (and Ralph Finnes, sometimes, too, now) to the point where I cannot look at the screen if he is being shown. I am afraid of the garden of souls that Ursula keeps on The Little Mermaid. But, most embarassingly, I am afraid of being touched by either wet grass or wet cereal.

I'm afraid of dead things- mostly dead bugs, lizards, snakes, spiders.  The live version doesn't bother me really.  Or half dead things.  My cat likes to bring in lizards from the patio that are half dead or dead and it completely freaks me out.  Also, I'm terrified of running into spider webs that have dead spiders (with moldy joints) in them.  Yuck!  Also lady bugs / asian beetles.  My parents house was infested with them for a few years growing up and they'd die all over the place.

Needles. Animals, reptiles, bugs? Fine. Whatever. But doctors wielding needles and God complexes are shudderingly terrifying. Doctor's visits are the worst for me. Even walking into a hospital gives me the heebie jeebies.

I am all sorts of squirmy over here!!
I'm TERRIFIED of any spider, mostly wolf spiders. They are just so friggin' huge!! I swear I can feel bugs/spiders crawling on me now!! About 10 years ago I was walking into my room and I went to turn my light on, I happen to look at the lightswitch and right there was sitting a wolf spider!!! I screamed so loud I woke up everybody in the house.  To this day, I never turn on a light without looking at the switch first.

I'm also terrified of aliens. I can't watch alien movies or hear stories about sightings without totally freaking out.  My whole family makes fun of me for it too.  I have this little bump on my lower back, kinda like a marble (been there for YEARS), and my family thinks its funny to tell me that it was put there by aliens and they are tracking me. SO NOT FUNNY!!!!!

I am absolutely, positively terrified of drowning or "breathing" underwater - snorkeling and scuba diving scare the hell out of me. My husband is deep sea uber-crazy certified in scuba diving and loves it, and I was somewhat thrilled that my inner ear issues left me medically ineligible for scuba diving during our honeymoon. We tried snorkeling, and the only way I was able to handle it was with him holding my hand the entire time. We also went white water rafting in a big group, with a guys and a girls raft. Our raft tipped, and even though I was wearing a life jacket, I was scared to death as I made my way (somewhat painfully) downstream until I was able to catch a rock and get out of the water.

@hisbunny: about the front teeth-- Me too! I'm extra cautious when I am in any situation where I might fall only because of my teeth. I can handle breaking anything else.

I'm pushing 30 and still terrified of the dark--bad. To the point that I have a routine at night about what order the lights get turned out in so I'm not in the dark until I am in bed. I'm also terrified of snakes being in the toilet--I check every single time before I sit down and you will never get a courtesy flush out of me--that's how they get in the toilet and get you!

I'm terrified of the dark too. I slept with a night light until I married Mr. Menard. If he's gone for the night, you better believe the night light comes out.

& I will freak the hell out when it comes to roaches and palmetto bugs. I'm from Georgia and they are horrible there. I've had meltdowns over those things. As if roaches aren't bad enough, these have to fly!! UGHHH!

OH, I'm really scared of Michael Myers. I went with a friend to see the new Rob Zombie movie. I have never been so scared in my life. Everytime I see a mask or whatever my blood pressure shoots up. He scares the crap out of me!!

I'm okay with everything on the list, and can't really think of another phobia that I do have, but I'll suggest that you add clowns to the list. I have several adult friends who are terrified of clowns. It'd be interesting to see how common that is.

@heatherkristin: OMG it still gives me the creeps! When the newest movie came out a few years ago, I couldn't even watch the previews.

The only things that really freak me out are creepy crawlies, especially r**ches. I can't even look at the full word because it makes me want to gag. I don't have a problem with "Country bugs"--bees, worms, ladybugs, etc. But city bugs are the nastiest things on the planet.

@hisbunny: @nqz100: I also have an irrational fear involving teeth! I think it's because I was in a car accident and had to get a root canal on one of my front teeth, but now thinking about someone getting hit in the face or having teeth knocked out makes me feel  faint.

@Beluga: Haha that's like DH--he can't watch me shave my legs or underarms. It grosses him out.

I am horrified at the thought of 'ankle-slashers.' I don't know if it was from some Oprah special I watched as a kid or a horror movie or a 'safety for women at work' video or what, but the thought of someone hiding under my car to cut my *oh my....I can't even type this without squirming and getting super flushed* ...uh...achilles tendon, so you can't I away. HORRIFIES me. I look under my car in parking lots (from a distance) every time, day or night. Irrational phobia. FI hits my ankle if we're in bed, I'll freak.
