I’m an RN working currently in Home Care. But I no longer “happy” in my current job for many reasons. I’m just wondering what else is out there. I’m looking into many programs and certifications that can enhance my career. Any nurses out there that have a job that’s out of the ordinary? What is that you do and how did you get there; education, certification, experience etc.? Thanks so much!

Right now I work in a cardiac ICU. Before this I worked in outpatient oncology giving chemo for about 4 years. It was honestly a great job. Clinic hours, but fast passed. And working with oncology patients was very rewarding.

I work on an inpatient adult oncology floor and am chemo certified. It’s hard work and very demanding. I think my ideal job at this stage would be inpatient hospice, but my hospital doesn’t have a floor like that. I’d also love to be a cruise ship RN lol that would be awesome!

Thanks guys! I’m finding in my job search that alot of jobs require certifications and that in order to be certified they require hours/experience. It just seems like a catch 22… and its very frustrating. Its a hard market right now, & I want to be able to best foot forward.

@Ms. Damask: Are you ACLS certified? That could be one thing to do on your own. A lot employers require it and will pay for it, so if you have it done before you are hired that would help a little I would think.
